The series itself is extremely nice. I am not honestly familiar enough with the individual differences betwqeen them(besides speaker config and wattage). The one i have used was a 40 or a 60 watter, in a 2x12 config i believe. I played a fender american strat into it, and it sounded simply brilliant. The amp itself was very nice, nice clean, and the overdrive was surprisingly awesome. It was nice and warm, but u could make it haul ass if you needed to. Just try it, and if its the amp for you, you will know. For the money personally, you cant go wrong.

Yea. It's a great versatile little amp. It likes pedals a lot. The clean channel is awesome...very...well...Fendery. The lead sound is just ok but when I had to use one at a benefit recently where backline was provided I took some pedals. I have a few 'boutique' ones but the one the Fender like the best was my old beat to hell Boss OD. It sounded great.

Warning! The Fender Hot Rod amps are VERY LOUD. 40 Watts of tube amp in the Deluxe is going to be loud. I owned a 60 watt Fender Hot Rod DeVille with 2 X 12" speakers. I never turned the volume above "2" (even when jamming or @ house party gigs). These amps are also very heavy to carry around. There is no doubt that the Fender amps sound great but you can't really get to the sweet spot of the tone without turning it up & that's gonna blow everybody else away. I ended up selling mine because it was too loud & too heavy. If you want a tube amp, I'd consider something smaller. The Peavey Classic 30 is a nice amp. I now own a Carvin Vintage 16. Sounds great with the soak up around seven & the volume @ 6. It can even be switched between 16 watts & 5 watts.

Fender Hot Rods are okay. I personally like the non-hot rod blues deluxe better but, really it's your choice.

Hot Rods have three channels, clean, gain & more gain. The Blues Deluxe just has two channels.
