Who has played through B-52 AT series? I am shopping for a new amp, I think I want a tube amp, and was wondering about B-52 Amps versus Fender.

A B-52 sounds pretty good for the price. However, you need to understand that if you buy one there is about a 50% chance that you will have to return it. I have heard lots of things about the amps having something go out. My friend bought an AT-100 head and less than a week later, the effects loop went out. That would be something that would be easy to miss if you don't use an effects loop regularly. The sound is decent but you may want to go ahead and get a noise supressor. Be sure that if you get one, you know that there is a good chance that you will have to return it and get a replacement that may or may not work correctly.

Yea, I've heard the same thing. They sound decent for the price but they aren't made that reliably. I'f you're gonna spend the money I'd save a few more weeks and go for something that sounds great, is made well and is reliable. Bluestrat, you're style will dictate which way to go. Mesa Boogie's are indestructable. Fender, Vox, and yes, even Peavy's Vintage Tube series have been around forever for a reason. They're great at what they do and they're made well. Thay all have great clean sounds for country, blues and rock. The Boogies have both, great clean and killer lead channels, Marshall does the "Marshall" sound better than anyone until you get into the expensive hand made boutique amps.

So, it's really up to your style and budget. How much gigging it will see. How much road work etc. Good luck

That is very true I bought one and returned it within a month but with a noise gate I really enjoyed the amp.

For the best bang for your buck the Peavey Valveking series is hard to beat. But when you are comparing anything to Fender tube amps you have to decide what sound you are looking for.....Fenders have what is probably the best clean sound in the business because of their transformers & the fact that they use 6L6 power tubes. If you are interested in a higher gain "British" sound you need to look at amps using EL34 or EL84 power tubes.
