So, I'm thinking about buying a second guitar as a backup to my Strat. I want to go the "completely new and different than my Strat" route and spend about 300$ doing it. I'm thinking of one of the two of these V-shaped models:

Jackson JS30KV King V

or:

Dean Dave Mustaine V VMNTX Signature

Both are the low-end of their respective lines and cost right at 300$, but I don't really care. Which would you guys choose?

Both are nice. I like the Vs too. I own a Dean ML-X7 and I absolutely love it's neck, so I'm probably partial to Deans as a result.

I have a Jackson JS30RR, if the king V is anything like it it will not be that good a guitar. The neck is very sensitive to changes in humidity and needs constant attention. I haven't played it enough to even break the original strings. Personally, I think if you can wait, get the next one up (probably $500-$600) for both a more stable guitar, and a floyd rose. If you do get it though, get the black one, the blue and red ones look cheap.

The JS series guitars are fun to learn to play on, but if you've been playing a while, I wouldn't bother.

Never owned a Dean before.
