Gibson has been slacking on ALL their innovation, according to alot of people out there, but I disagree. This months Guitar Of The Week is an LP-295 with Pushtone circuitry, allowing the pickups to be CLIPPED ON and OFF. It comes a set of Burstbuckers and P-94s. But, aside from that, don't I believe they are slacking on MOST of their innovation. I keep seeing a "new" Les Paul that is supposed to be the cream of the crop, but it's the same old tune with a new finish. Every year it's the same thing with a new paintjob. Why not make a new MODEL of guitar? Maybe a Flying V Thinline, perhaps? Does anyone else see this shortage of innovation? Do you agree?

As far as innovation is concerned, here's what Gibson has been up to...

I wonder what the sample rate is on the interface, the website does not mention any of the actual digital specs. I doubt if they are that good, especially when routing analog to digital, then back to analog again. The monitor mix output is a cool feature though.

digital guitar, auto-tuning? the body styles are classic, still rock,. and still sell. They have been filtering out the stuff that doesn't sell [blueshawk discontinued among others]. As far as I am concerned they are doing fine, but what new stuff would you ike to see? A gibson extra pointy bc rich/jackson lawsuit model? The flying v with the hollow spots is nifty i guess... I agree they haven't had a new shape in a while, the "reverse series" is just a joke. But they have been innovative no all the other fronts I can imagine.

Here's my Gibson V, i got bored of it so I changed up the looks myself.

I actually kind of miss the Blueshawk. Back when I first started playing, I wanted one. I paid for my first guitar (yamaha pacifica) but my parents wanted to suprise me with a blueshawk 2 years later. Sadly, they were discontinued, and they ended up buying me an Epiphone Del Rey (which I still have).

My only complaint was the pickups. I have never really been a fan of the P-90 sound, and would have preferred PAF's instead.

The blueshawk is wicked... I prefer set neck, angled headstock and rosewood fingerboard but wanted a hollowbody. ALmost ended up with a tele thinline and bam! Meet the blueshawk.

I want to make a comment: Yes, these new robot guitars are neat, and innovative, but i'm not comfortable playing some thing that takes all the grit and work out of playing, hunting for that sound, and tuning for me. They have a place, but i'm not comfortable playing them. but thas just me, someone else might see it differently, and i respect everyones oppinions.

I suppose that the auto tuning thing is great if you are a professinal but I think that feature should be avoided until you can tune manually as I believe tuning helps your ear, but I imagine the same thing was said when tuners were first introduced. And consisdering the price the point is probably moot as very few beginners are going to lay out that kind of money
