Ok, its like this. Im thinking about buying a new guitar cause I miss having single coils. I plan to buy either a Tele or a Fat Strat. My question is: How is the quality of Squire guitars vs the "true" Fenders. I dont have that much money to spend so squire fits my budget a bit better.
Any suggestions?

Well if your looking a great guitar a squire isnt it thats for sure. but its decent. there great beginner guitars but after that your going to throw it away. you can save a few more bucks and get a tele or strat standard for 400, and those are fun, long lasting decent guitars there, you wont be wronged if you buy a fender. but with the Squire you will be craving more in no time.

The Squiers they made 15-20 years ago weren't all that bad, but now...no good amigo. Go with the Mexican-made Standard, and you won't go wrong with it.

Thanx all.
Played on a Squier Tele today. Didnt feel that good and I REALLY dont want to get herpes. In that case I would keep playing on my J&D.
But I think I will get something like this:

i like fat strats, i never really use the bridge pickup if it is a singlecoil, but love the 4th and 5th switch positions of a strat, so that is a really cool guitar. i have a 50th anniversary fat strat USA that i love to death.

I'm a proud Squier owner! The guitar in that pic is exactly like mine.

....and yup! There's 7 strings on that puppy!

If you're thinking about a Squier Strat, try a Yamaha Pacifica. About the same price as the Squier but a much better guitar. Downside is that if you go to sell it in a few years it won't be worth anything (just like the Squier). The Mexican Strat will cost you more, is not leaps & bounds better than the Yamaha but will hold its value better.

I have a Squier Strat and I like it except for the squeeling pickups. Good for a practice / beginner guitar. Mine is an older one bought in 95'. I have played newer ones that I don't like. I think the body is thinner and it seems pretty crappy overall...
