I'm so happy, I thought I'd post my glee;

OK, I JUST picked these 2 up today, as I wanted to add another delay, and as well I tried out the mxr distortion III and I KNEW it would sound killer in my "YJM - Neo-Rig".
And it did.

The delay is in the loop, and will probably reside with a Boss DD-5, and an Ibanez Soundtank DL5 there.
The MXR Distortion III goes just before the DOD YJM 308 Preamp overdrive and then goes into a Peavey Classic 30. Sounds glassy and amazing. Now there's no need to use the OD channel on the classic 30, it's completely pedal driven.
The only guitars I use through this little rig is my Fender YJM signature series Stratocaster. I firmly believe that fender should include the DOD preamp pedal with every sale of the YJM strat. Seriously. The YJM strat has such low output pickups that it's hard to get that 'sizzle' and yet retain that cool glassy 'texture' to the tone. I think I have it, though! We'll see if I stay happy, lol...

Anyways, I'm real happy with the delay and the distortion. Tres wicked.

Hey Zombre I think you need a JCM800 on number 11 to get the Ying sound.

Yngwie uses the old DOD 250 preamp pedals, which the DOD YJM 208 is modelled after. Now, the 208 is noisier, for sure but you can get damn close to the Malmsteen sound regardless of the amp you're plugged into if you have a YJM Strat and the DOD YJM 208. The sound I'm into/after is close, but a bit different. The MXR Distortion III gives me the distortion "flavour" that I'm looking for, and the 208 provides the gain... I have a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 401 combo, and a Marshall JVM410H, but I prefer the YJM strat through the Peavey Classic 30.

Clips are coming soon, I'm too busy working on the "Crazy Train" Collab... (Which will feature this setup, by the way...)

Yep. I do. It's awesome. It's a keeper in my "neo" rig...lol.

YJM strat>DOD YJM 308>Voodoo Lab Superfuzz> MXR Distortion III>Peavey Classic 30.
In the loop, I have a Boss DD3

I love it.

I think the Boss DD3 is the best overall delay pedal, period. I tried several, analog and digital, and with all things considered, the DD3 was by far my favorite. I love delay pedals (when used with taste, instead of as a crutch). They really fatten up the sound.

love my boss dd-5. NOT a fan of the soundtank stuff. dang plastic pedal. got two of 'em. they short out AND i had to take them apart just to get the pedals to engage again. they're thrown in a box for now...but the dd-5 is way cool. run thru the loop as it should be. but seeing as you have two delays now, you should consider putting one thru the loop and the other thru the front to give ya some contrast. especially cool is to set the front one up for a real long delay. right at the end of a song hit it and let the note just go for a minute or so....very cool set ender....and you'll actually get a longer dealy out front. the loop DOES lessen the time a bit, allthough delay sounds way more organic in the loop. so one in front AND in the loop is a nice option. and you gotta love MXR stuff. nice metal construction. killer tones.....ala randy rhoads...

bachmirage, you're so right about the mxr stuff; truly killah. My soundtank delay JUST died tonight on me. I think I might pick up another dd-3 and put it after the distortion III, and get a dd-5 and put it in the loop with the other dd-3. I've never been so happy with my tone, seriously. And that Voodoo Lab Superfuzz, holy crap, man!! You MUST get one! lol they sear and kill, yet retain definition! Very cool.

i love the sound of short, crisp, distortion notes. i love mxr but in all honesty i like my boss ds1 because it has only 3 knobs. gain, volume, tone. anything else is too much and should probably be another pedal.
