im getting bored of my old guitar rig, and i want a new one, so im going to start from scratch, so far, these are my plans:
my first idea of a new rig is
a squeir by fender telecaster
im still thinking of a amp
a tuner
and a sistortion factory

or i could go farther and save up more money and get
epiphone flying v
krankenstein head amp
any tuner that works
and an overdrive pedal

any ideas?

i dont care for squire at all. every one i have ever tried felt really crappy and cheap to me.
i had an epiphone g-400 one time and i liked it pretty good. the guitar i have now is also an epi and i love it.
my first choice of amp is marshall, but there are several good choices.
the ONLY tuner is korg.

but hey thats just my opinion, you gotta do what makes you happy.

later man

I like the tele idea but buy at least a Fender MIM rather than the Squire. I think you would be better off although my brother has a Squire Tele and it sounds good but he has swapped both pickups.

Tip #1

try not to waste your money on stuff you will be replacing - squire guitars, cheaper multi effects, etc. Make it something you will keep around for at least a few years.

Tip #2

Don't pick stuff weirdos on the web voted on. I mean, my avatar is a healthy 26 year old, but in reality I am kathy bates waiting to hobble your feet.

My recomendation? A decent quality guitar and a low wattage tube amp. Examples include an epiphone with a set neck and an epiphone blues custom and a quality distortion pedal if you're into heavier music. Or possibly a smaller peavy tube amp and a mexi tele or something. If you've really got the cash, go a step up on the AMPLIFIER - my squire strat [only have it because it has a roland midi pickup on it] sounds wicked through my TSL100, however my gibson V doesn't make a squire amp sound any better.

I have a great idea. Go to guitar center this weekend and try every guitar and amp combination possible in your budget. Then, when you find a match that YOU are comfortable with, order the guitar and amp online, so that you don't pay full price for something that i put my greasy sausage fingers on. What some people like may just not fit your style, for example, you might hook up a dean metalman to a blues jr, and like it for country. You just never know until you play it. Don't be afraid of used guitars either. Like Hippieway said, you will probably be better off with a MIM fender than a squire, and if you buy used, you will spend less. Besides, wood gets more resonant as it ages.

True on both counts however; with the Poly that Fender dips its stuff in for a base coat the wood won't age a day with respect to how it sounds, what you get now is what you'll have pretty much forever.
