Wow, there's so many. For me it seems to fluctuate, but I'd say Randy Rhoads "Mr. Crowley"

An individual solo, or an instrumental? I'll list both:

Solo: Spirit Carries On - Dream Theater

Instrumental: Bad Horsie - Steve Vai

All of those are great. It's hard to decide on a favorite. But at the risk of being flamed, I'll add this one:

Dragonforce - Through The Fire And Flames

That sounds like a new best-seller from Oprah's Book Club.

Perhaps, but when you here it, it is thankfully nothing Oprah about it.

Its only an excerpt from the beginning. He has focal dystonia, a nerve disorder so his left hand only has two fully working fingers, the other two kinda kink up.

I don't know how many of you like or even know of or care about what Blackmore has been doing for the last decade, so here is the song the solo of which is my favourite. It's kinda long and the solo starts at 4:45 and goes all the way to 6:35.
I was listening to it like an addict for a month and it still moves me just as much as the first time. That's what I call "feel" and "tone".

Interesting solo! I wonder if he's still using the strat. I would imagine so, I can't picture Blackmore using anything else.

It's kind of like asking which of your kids you love the most ..... very difficult to answer a simple question, yes ? One of them is embedded:

SRV Live at the El Macambo... a small club in Toronto (c'mon Stevie -- show some passion!!)

ibzRG and Freddy : A few issues ago 'Fingerstyle Magazine' did a cover-issue and feature article on Mr. Blackmore. He was playing all kinds of 'world' instruments; strange-looking wooden-shaped things with strings on them. It sounded great .....

My favorite solo is the one in "Over the Mountain" by Ozzy/Randy Rhodes. It's that little sizzle zipping sound... makes me listen to that song all the way to the solo every time I hear it. I'd like to learn that solo one day.

I could probably post a different favorite solo here everyday for a year and still find another one that's my favorite, it changes from day to day depending on my mood at the time. But a few that come to mind right off the bat would be...

Led Zeppelin - Heartbreaker

Metallica - Master of Puppets

Anything Buddy Guy has ever played

The solo in Dream Theater's Peruvian Skies.

Yes, it's from DT's most commercial cd, and also the cd that was their biggest commercial flop, but it's got some damn amazing songwriting on it.

great lyrics too... you can tell by some songs lyrics on this one that they were getting pressure for a hit single.

great thing was, after this cd flopped they insisted on doing things their way and coughed up Scenes from a Memory.
