I'm a self admitted 80s cheezy pop-music junkie. I still listen to crap like 80s Chicago, Richard Marx and John Waite. I've found myslef playing a lot of the cheezy solos that went along with these songs. As far as I can tell, the trend of putting guitar solos to pop-songs maybe started in the late 70s and went out in the early 90s. Post some of the best solos you can think of. In my opinion, these solos are great in major key phrasing ideas. And since most of these solos were played by the best studio musicians (I'm assuming), its often hard to find out who did the solo. But post the guy who played did it if you know. MUST BE CHEEZY POP. NO WHITESNAKE OR WHITE LION BALLADS, ETC!

Somewhere out there - James Ingram, unknown soloist

Nothings gonna stop us now - Starship, Craig Chaquico

How do you talk to an angel - Jamie Walters, unknown soloist

I don't wanna live without your love - Chicago, unknown soloist

One shining moment, song from the NCAA tournament, unknown soloist

List some more if you have them. I'm assuming the peeps who didn't grow up the same era as me, 80s, wouldn't be as into this stuff as me. I know, I have no shame...

Good stuff. I personally prefer "Don't stop believing." Any ways, more cheeze:

Breathe - How can I fall?

Phil Collins - Easy Lover, technically not that cheezy

Carpenters - Goodbye to Love

I apologize if I've offended anybody...

Bon Jovie "Never say good bye"

Not really any " SOLO" stuff, but it does sound good.

FYI, the guitar work on Janet Jackson's Black Cat was apparently all done by Nuno Bettencourt.

Wow, I didn't know that, but then again, I don't listen to J.J.

Nazareth- "Love Hurts"
REO Speedwagon - 'Heard it from a friend" - Gary Richrath(sp)
Cher - "If I could turn back time"
Fleetwood Mac - "Silver Spring" - Lindsay Buckingham
Chris Issac - "Wicked Game"
Rick Springfield - "Jessie's Girl"
The Pretenders - "Brass in the Pocket" - James Honeyman Scott

I can't do this anymore.

Wow Nuno and Janet - awesomeness.

Speaking of the Jacksons, Eddie Van Halen is DEFINITELY the solo on "Beat It".

Slash is on "Black or White" and "Give It to Me" (Michael Jackson) and Steve Stevens (of billy Idol Fame) played on "Smooth Criminal" awsome songs.

I am not saying that I am right but I have always heard the following which is in opposition to what some of you are saying:

Beat It - Slash
Black Cat - Mick Mars

I have also heard that it was Kerry King who did the guitar work on "You Gotta Fight For your Right to Party" by the Beastie Boys.

These are things that I have just always heard from others over the course of my life so there is a strong possibility I could be wrong and I am too lazy to look it up.
