Metallica and their legal counsel are on the brink of insanity as far as I'm concerned. Their most recent collective copyright and digital rights issue pertains to their fear that album sales will plummet because the song "One" appears in Guitar Hero III. Activion's counsel issued a statement saying that they paid Metallica a licensing fee for the use of the song and attributes the band's lawsuit to their recently developed "batshit insanity". I agree but I'm sure of there not being a chapter in the Copyright Law 101 handbook that cites "batshit" as a recognized type of insanity. There's no band that I hate more than them. I could see Metallica being concerned about losing album sales if they offered an entire albums worth of material but those songs wouldn't appear anyway unless they were licensed. They're not going to lose a dime for having "One" appear in a video game. All of the young cats that play that game may not be aware of all of a band's early catalog so it probably would benefit those artists in promoting their music. Bands, like Metallica, are being paid to market their music in a video game. Everyone else on the planet has to pay for advertising. I wish they'd just shut the F up!

If they fired the legal team, Lars Ulrich would need to find a new band ;)

And it's not even the REAL "one", it's a cover, isn't it?
Metallica is kind of a parody of itself, you know? A bloody joke.

In my mind, they should just take "One" right outta there. I could personally care less if I never heard another Metallica song again. Ever.

For me, Zombre hit the spot... they're a bloody joke.
this band has become a circus... i was a big fan, but they died since the black album...
and now they try to exploit every single shit that came "in the way"... that's what happens when you go "COMMERCIAL"... see money in every single face...

Many times we see bands that we love break up and we ask ourselves why? (Soundgarden comes to mind) I think that Metallica is an example of a band that should have broken up a long time ago but for whatever reason continues to force themselves on us...like a relative that won't go home and bitches about everything you do.

I am a hardcore Metallica fan, but even a fan needs to know his level of tolerance. This is insanity. It's only ONE(1) song! Record sales will not plummet because of a single song. They're already sitting on a wad, so what are they stressing about? Instead of suing, they should be grateful that their award-nominated song was picked to be on Guitar Hero III.

I agree with Zombre. They should just remove One and put something else in it's place if Metallica is going to complain right after they agreed to put the song on the f---ing game.
