I will eventually have to buy it anyway, but I was wondering if anyone has had a listen to the new one from Alice in Chains 2nd go around? Anyone, let me know what your humble opinions are.

I have heard 2 songs from it and they were both pre-released on iTunes. I am pretty picky about what I buy on iTunes and I bought both of them. I LOVE love both of those songs. The names of the songs are "A Looking in View" and "Check My Brain". I haven't heard the rest of the album but if these 2 songs are any indication, it has to be great.

Well, during the "Grunge" movement, I felt that AIC were alot harder than the rest of the guys coming out of Seattle. Not that the rest weren't good, it's just the 80's had a lot of lead guitarists, and there for a while the leads were almost non existant until the Chains came out. Jerry Cantrll's article in Guitar World was great. He's just an honest guy, at the end of the day, and losing Layne was a big hit.

I have that mag lying on top of my TV. We just moved so I haven't had a chance to read it yet. The move is a big reason why I haven't been on here either.

I haven't bought it yet but I've listened a bit.
I think it's very cool that they have maintained that same feel from their previous albums.

You can preview the album in full on Lala. The first time you listen you can hear the whole song. Next time you only get 30 sec unless you buy it.
So Be sure to listen in your headphones verse the PC speakers when you check it out.

I bought it the day the cd came out and I'm very happy with it.

I was very happy to see they didn't lose their signature sound when Lane passed away and there's times that you can't even tell he's not there (most likely due to Jerry's influence on the band's sound). The new singer does have his own sound and style however and it's most noticable in the songs where Jerry hasn't done as many backing vocal tracks.

It's solid. Not great. Sounds good. I think the riffs lack the grandness of their more classic works. I'd be way more interested in the next album, if that ever happens.

I went and bought it his weekend, kind of an early B-Day present to myself. I love it. It has more of a mature somberness to it. I think that if they continue with this new guy, it will be good things. the guitar work is not as loud and gritty, but it is definitely on my top 10. The ambiance is there, not like before.

I am not a fan of AIC. I like a few songs here and there but never really considered myself a fan. This record, however, really goes off at times. Its a fun record. Your groovin along to the signature AIC sound and then they kick it up and throw down with some heaviness. I like it!

Plus i have been singing the chorus to "Check My Brain" for about the past 2 weeks. i can't get it out of my head...er brain
