Well this may bit a nerdy or whatever but I love phantom of the opera any dark stuff like that about the only ochestra stuff I like, but is it possible to cover it on a guitar?

I dont expect to nail it dead on or sound like the real deal, but where should I start or is it even really possible?
If I can get the intro and most of the beginng I would be very happy :D

You want to know one thing? Nightwish has a Sympho Metal version of "Phantom Of The Opera", "Through The Hills And Faraway" (Gary Moore Cover) and many more good songs. Just visit youtube and get yourself a browse through these musical jewels.
Have a nice day, and don't forget to +1 me (it might make you feel better).

Phantom is a good play. It's my favorite. BTW, Nightwish's Phantom cover is excellent. Also After Forever has a tune that is not Phantom, but has that vibe that I really like.

Hey, nice song!!
By the way, if you like those songs, give a listen to Opeth(classical guitar and some metal), Apocalyptica(cello metal), Epica and Kamelot (both of them sympho metal).

EDIT: There is also a version of Phantom Of The Opera, by Iron Maiden =)

Yea, I listen to alot of sympho-metal these day. I usually listen to the bands that have female singers though. The beauty-and-the-beast kinda stuff: she sings beautifully and operatic and he growls. It's a great contrast. BTW, Epica is a really good band.

(Growls) Sensorium!

Iron maiden has a song called Phantom of the Opera, from their Debut album Iron Maiden in 1980.
I don't think this is what you mean by the phantom of the opera sound, but I thought I'd post it anyways.

How many Guitarists does it take to Screw in a lightbulb? Ten. One to do it, and nine others to sit at the back of the room with their arms crossed and tal about how they could do it better.

The way I approach learning songs from musicals is learn the harmony, melody, and then a simple chord melody version of the song. Then, once you have the structure down, you can throw down all of the goofy Trans-siberian licks you want. Phantom of the Opera has a score book for sure in EVERY music store. Just my HO...
