hey aaron,

rhythm can be a hard thing to get down well. and different methods work better for deifferent people. here are 3 different ways you can try to get more "on beat with your playing:

1- using a metronome, practice everything you can play in a rhythmic way. even if you are soloing and it is fast and really not very rhythmic, MAKE it that way. sart out making one note or chord every beat, then, make them into eighth notes (2 notes per beat) then make them a triplet, then sixteenth, etc. doing this sets onot only your hands into a rhythmic motion, but your mind as well. this works well for some people...

2- use your foot- bounce yor foot like a metronome, and maybe even bob your head with it hell, thrash your body around wildly... as long as you dont do it off beat! the whole thing is keeping your mind oon the beat...

3- STOP PLAYING WILDLY- everyone on this site wishes that were rock stars. unfortunately, we are not. so while we are all guilty of cranking our amp up and rocking out with our you-know-what out, you need to KNOW what you are playing, and giving yourself a concussion while you are practicing is not the way to do it.

hope these tips help man.... i think youwill find your groove.....

I think SATAN said it all

But may I add, as Bachmirage said, lay along with some songs

Also, find a drummer to jam with

Learn to tap your foot with a beat. Pick a simple tempo, and tap your foot to it, wihout your guitar in hand at first. Then grab it and play some simple chord progressions. Rythm is not an easy thing to learn. Buy you a set of drumsticks, and if you don't have a kit don't worry. There are things to bang on. Grab a bucket and turn it upside down. start banging away with the music.

Well first of all, unless I missed it you didn't say how long you've been playing..
Second.. Get a metronome. It will help you in ways you can't imagine.
Third.. Practice practice practice.

All good things come to those that work for it.

i cant say much just that when i have trouble with stuff the best thing is to do it over and over and over and over not exactly practicing but just play every moment that you have. hang in there you'll get used to it

The ryhtm is something you need to learn. It doesn't matter what you play, you need rythm. Get a metronome. They even make ones now that you can feel against your body so you can actually get into the rythm with everything you got. Check out the body beat, there man.
