I have to give it to Jimi Hendrix - Red House (and every other performer who has covered it).
I have sought out every different version or performance I could find of this tune. I must have at least 20 - 30 Different versions.

That's a tough one as I tend to not have "favorites." If you said album, then it would be "Wish You Were Here" by The Floyd. I've played that album every night for the past 9 years and go to sleep to it. Sometimes I'll throw in "Dark Side," or "Momentary Lapse," but still play "Wish You Were Here" as well.

This to me changes almost daily. I generally become obsessed with a song for a few days and then move onto another. I can't even narrow down my top 10 favorite bands - if you wanted to use the old "if you were stranded on an island and could only bring x # albums..." I would need an mp3 player with 30+ gb (with some sort of solar power supply) and would still have trouble narrowing.

For the second I will vote on Dethharmonic by Dethklok. I know it is a parody but is really good!

yeah Io totally agree. I listen to so much music and so many different genres of music it is very hard to narrow down favorites. If I am feeling a certain way then a specific kind of music goes with my mood.

Hmm...that's a toughie.

It'd probably be "Orion" by Metalllica. A lasting tribute to Metallica's first and greatest bassist, Cliff Burton.

Lover, You Should've Come Over by Jeff Buckley

One of the few songs to ever make me cry because it is so good. I listen to Buckley every day. He is my Elvis.

i have lots of favorites, and my list would vary from day to day but as a southern boy with a great fondness of southern rock i guess i have to vote for freebird by lynyrd skynyrd.

sometimes i feel that some of its greatness has been lost because it has been played a trillion times, but it still contains some good lyrics and that terrific solo at the end. the opening riffs to me are among the most instantly recognizable, especially the slide parts.

i cant believe i correctly spelled " recognizable " LOL. i thought the spell check was gonna have to change that one for me.

Freebird is a great crowd pleaser. Probably the most requested live cover ever.

If you are in a classic rock band be prepared to have this song requested at every show.

I love Freebird too.

I don't really have just ONE favorite...but there are a few songs I seem to keep coming back to when we decide to do covers.

Little Wing / Wind Cries Mary - Jimi Hendrix
Limelight / Spirit of Radio / Tom Sawyer / YYZ - Rush

Lately I've been getting into classic metal, and I discovered this video. I always liked this song, but this version is AWESOME!!

I am amazed that people have favorite songs permanately. I have favorite songs today and tunes I always like but to boil it down to a favorite song I can't do it. I've gone thru phases and true Joplin's Summertime always takes me somewhere but I just can't do a favorite song. Too many songs, too many emotions, too many mes.
