Define "bad words"....if you mean cursing, I don't care about that either way. If you mean badly written lyrics, I could definitely do without those.

I am assuming you mean curse words. I don't mind curse words as long as they are used properly. Sometimes it is brilliant the way they are used. The drawback is that sometimes I have to skip a really good song when my kids are in the car.

to me, a good song is a good song, whether it has curse words or not. that fact alone is not to determine the quality of the song. i would prefer that they dont get carried away, though. i mean if its just constantly vulgar, it becomes pretty annoying.

A salute to the recently departed George Carlin who was a wordsmith. Bad words can be good and good words can be bad, word usage is whats important. Use the words that are important to use, if you just want to shock me, well don't bother because you probably won't shock me and you certainly won't impress me. Along with Carlin I would recommend the writer Richard Brautigan a guy who used as few words as possible and wrote some of the best poetry, short stories and novels of the 60's and 70's.

I think that it depends on the listener's taste and age. "Bad words" are more appropriate in certain situations than their ridiculous PR replacement words, too, so there's that. Personally, I don't care unless the song is just F--- F--- F--- I CAN'T F----- BELIEVE YOU F--- F--- S--- F----. That's going a little overboard.

I have to agree with the masses - lyrics are supposed to be poetic (songs are art believe it or not) and cursing - like it or not - is part of our language. Read Shakespeare and you will find vulgar language. If used properly curses can punctuate certain feelings.

Yeppers. I agree with the majority also. Cursing has its place. But too much is too much. There is great music that has no cursing too.

I'm kind of in between...I don't care if someone curses in a song once in a while, but if excessively done, the song just ends up sounding bad.
