Cherry Poppin' Daddies have teamed with Gibson to release the SG Zoot Suit - read more here - http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/Features/gibson-usa-sg-zoot-suit-911/

What do you think?

Truth is the band has so much to show for themselves besides "Zoot Suit Riot," they just put out two albums. The first is "SkaboyJFK: The Skankin' Hits of the Cherry Poppin' Daddies." It's a showcase of their ska material, similar to how "Zoot Suit Riot" showcased their swing material. It hits on two-tone, ska-punk, traditional, everything.

The other is "Susquehanna," which is typical CPD fashion hits every genre! Punk, ska, rockabilly, swing, jazz, new wave, and latin. they can really pull off just about any style.

They have tunes on their MySpace, Facebook, and iLike to sample and download. myspace.com/cherrypoppindaddies , facebook.com/cherrypoppindaddies, ilike.com/artist/cherry+poppin'+daddies

I love Cherry Poppin Daddies. I have been lucky enough to see them live. So good.

Isn't this guitar one that was out awhile back, or pictures were circulating, but it wasn't called a zoot suit?
They have a bunch of different finishes, some are good and some are U G L Y. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Zoot-SG-Electric-Guitar?sku=484926

I saw one of those in a shop a few days back. I think they look like they got out of a hippie convent...

Gibson are not on the ball these days. The Vintage Icon 'The Fool' SG beats those over the head with their own necks. It is one of the very few iconic SGs and Gibson missed the boat. I can't comment on the band but those SGs are fugly.

The worse part is not the crazy colors. I think I read that each color stripe is a different piece of wood. So these SGs are made up of more wood pieces than an entry level guitar. That's just not right. I think Gib is trying to sell leftover lumber for gold.

I actually like the look of this guitar...

Not gonna buy one though... Just think it's a cool idea.

Well, I guess, being a CPD fan, myself, I think the guitar is cool. The other one is cooler, though, to me. It looks more natural. Here it is. The sustain on it might be pretty decent, depending on the wood they use.

The two-coloured ones are acceptable. The rainbow one though looks like it belongs in a circus.

Was I there for that one, Robbiusa? Don't remember. I have slept since then. I find I repeat myself a lot...

Don't think so, frumsapap, I remember tds started it, and farlow posted a few, and Father D M.... hmmm.... linus, ibz... bunch of other folks, but you were absent for that one, I think.

At the time, I think most everyone didn't like it... but I don't think anyone responding to this one was in on the other one....

They're still aces for looks as far as SGs go... not a huge fan, like LPs better, but I wouldn't turn one down... much better that the Raw Power SGs as far as looks.

SGs are not for me in general. Really, I have nothing against a SG, just not my favorite. But, I must say the multicolor one is just unnecessary. I dont really like this look. :-/

as I titled the original post, my opinion is UGLIEST GUITAR EVER.

If I came across one I'd probably try it out just to see if it sounds decent despite the number of pieces of wood used to make them...but I'd never buy one and just based on what I know of guitar construction, in theory this should sound like pure shite... but if Gibby did things right they might prove me wrong.

some of the 2 toned guitars don't look as bad, but I still think it's ugly as hell.

I know that ultimately the tone and playability of a guitar should come first; but there's something to be said for looks also...how often do you pay top dollar for a guitar and get something that not only sounds good but is also great eye candy.
