Hello good people,
I know this is very lazy and I should really just figure this out myself but I'll go for it anyway!
Any recomendations for guitar harmonies that work well for either twin guitars or guitar and bass riffs. In particular how do Led Zeppelin do it? Are they 3rds? Any suggestions, ideas or thoughts. I would love to start using these but not in a ridiculously cheesy Gary Moore style!
Thanks in ,
Peace

i suppose youa re talking about "tandom" guitars? ala iron maiden and boston and the like..you can use thirds, octaves, etc. zeppelin's not really all that well known for the practice as other bands like thin lizzy are. you can just try experimenting with different fth's thirds, etc. or you can learn a few of those leads(both parts) and see for yourself how they interact with each other and then pick out the kinds of tandoms you like and construct your own. obvioulsy have a recording device of some kind helps out tremendously. simply layer tandoms on top of each other til you find ones you like.

what zep song are you referring to?

you can learn just about any boston song(more than a feeling, hitch a ride) and find tandoms as well as say...thin lizzy (cowboy song or jailbreak).

Iron Maiden are a great source for tandem guitar parts. Judas Priest also.

and lets not forget Scorpion. Although I don't think it's as frequent as with Priest or Maiden; they do a lot of tandem guitars too.

the song No One Like You seems to come to mind as an example of their tandem guitar parts... The intro solo in particular. It's been so long since I've heard this song I'm not sure if the main solo break in the middle has any tandem parts.

I just remember the video was set in Alcatraz and the singer was being led to the electric chair where this really hot chick in leather S&M gear was waiting to pull the switch. Oh, and one of the guitarists has his head wrapped in bandages with what appeared to be forks with the points bent and sticking into the inside corners of his eyes and the handles bent back around his face... it kinda looked like some funky piece of eyewear.
