I just got back from a concert that some buddies of mine were in. The band before them was some crappy screamo band. They used crunch chords. A lot. I had to endure 25 minutes of F#,G, and G# and the same time. As you all know, half-step intervals sound like dookie. This band was the only band to do this, and the only band i have ever heard do this on purpose. It was not an accident, because i had the misfortune of wandering into a previous concert of theirs. They suck. Anyway, want i want to know is this; Why on earth would anybody in their right mind play crunch chords for 25 minutes? It plain sucked.

In theory, we call those "cluster chords" usually. Just a semi-random assortment of notes stacked together, usually at close intervals with each other.

25 minutes of dissonance, you say? neat-o.
