i imagine it's a lot easier on the fingers for sure. you are only hitting buttons. it's like any game. play it long enough, you'll get good at it.....but it certainly isn't going to help anyone play real guitar...it's good exposure for older music to a newer generation though....i get students coming in asking to learn some crazy songs that way....songs that they normally would never of even heard of........

I honestly only think that freaking game would ever be called more challenging then a real guitar is because you don't have any choice in what you actually play, all the octaves and notes are just put out there for you. I mean think of it, only a one string guitar with five frets, its physically impossible for one because the frets couldn't even play all of the different ranges of octaves that a real guitar can achieve. They are all just put out there for you and you have to choice of originality so I would honestly have to say no matter what anyone says a real guitar is about at least 500 times harder than that game. I don't think I'm exaggerating at all and I know most of you would call me ridiculous for even posting this because it would just be common sense to note this fact.

I can't stand that game either. Probably because my kid plays it and since he has it, he's good at it. He'll bring it over and do his "Hero Showoff" bit, but then my brother will pick up his guitar and just play along for real while my son presses a couple buttons. Hell, I normally play acoustic 12 strings, so this doesn't translate for me in the first place. I personally don't see the appeal in pressing a few buttons in time with the music. But then again, I'm not a game player either, so that probably has something to do with it as well.

I played GHII and it was kinda cool. I used to play video games all the time when I was a kid, and I'm sure I would have mastered this game in no time--back at that time. Nowadays, I'm not the same player anymore! I then concluded that in video games the "use it or lose it" saying applies really good.

On the other hand, I do also believe that playing the game is harder than playing an actual guitar. The "artifact" is weightless, and this makes it harder to get use to it. The "fretboard" is also too short, and it feels like you are playing on a baby guitar. But, this is game and we must understand that!
