"All i have to say is OMG!!!!!!!!!"

That's pretty much what Jacko had to say before he hit the floor. The cable news networks are going to cover this until we all vomit blood. I can't wait to see the circus that's going to be his funeral.

Shocking and sad that he had to go out like that. I know most people on this site probably don't appreciate Michael Jackson's music, but he was one of the greatest vocalists of all time. He deserved to have another comeback in him.

On a different bent, when you become that much of an popular culture icon, you're almost become immortal. The only person I can think of who has reached a higher plateau and whose death would be more shocking to me is Michael Jordan.

the music industry lost a living legend, oddball behaviour aside, the man was a master of writing catchy songs that sold billions.

also sad was that his quirks eventually overshadowed his music.

I sincerly believe that he really did act the way he did because of his childhood ( or lack of one depending on who you ask). He didn't get to live the live of the average child and he really did appear to be childlike in terms of his behaviour. With regards to the molestation scandals, even if you believe him whe he said nothing sexual took place... he genuinely seemed to believe that there was nothing wrong with having children stay the night in his room with him...he came off like an 8 year old having a sleep over and seemed completely oblivious to why people felt this was inappropriate. He didn't seem to realize that doing this with children at age 40 was just plain creepy. This was also very sad to see in my opinion.

The thing my wife and I have been talking about is that this isn't as big a deal to us as it should be. He got so weird and was out of the public eye that he was just kinda of a Howard Hughes character. Honestly, the Farah Fawcett thing hit me more.

When confronted by Martin Bashir about the plastic surgery Jackson lied and said that he had only two procedures on his nose. The rest was just natural change. I'm sorry but I have a had time believing that Jackson was not a pedophile and yet all I keep hearing about is what a musical genius he was on all the cable news shows. Yes, Jackson was incredibly talented but I also think he was a damned liar.

I'm glad he's gone, I'll just hide from TV and radio for awhile. No problem.

Hey guys, i have some news. Michale Jackson possibly commited suicide they said. There was a guy on CNN who said that the pills Jackson took mess with the cardiac system cuz of the salt, iron, fiber, potssium levels in the human body. There is no doubt that he died of cardiac arrest but that still doesnt mean he had caused it.

I never considered myself a big pop music fan, but I have to admit when I started buying Cd's instead of vinyl (this might show my age a bit) one of the first Cd's I bought was "Bad". I can remember watching the Jackson Five when I was just a young kid and being amazed at how talented this kid Michael Jackson was. Later on came "Thriller" and what can you say...it was the most popular video of its day and probably still one of the most popular to this day. Personally, he was a mess, but at his core he was a gifted singer and a performer, and from that view, there were few more talented. He could definitely be considered the Elvis of his generation in comparison to both his professional and personal life.

"....the only person who has reached a higher plateau and whose death would be more shocking to me is Michael Jordan."

Ok, I'm from Chicago and admit to being a bit biased that MJ was the best thing to happen to Chicago sports in history. But, most shocking death ever ?

Well, let's see ... there was Jesus; His death was pretty significant. JFK and ML King were at a pretty high-level. The assassination of Gandi, maybe?

I get your point, ... but let's not get all carried away. As mentioned.. Elvis died 'before his time'... he was kind of an icon.

(Got to be startin' somethin' -- got to be startin' somethin' ....)

Only in my mind Desmond. There's tons of people who don't watch any kind of sports. Considering the time period of my adolescence and the pursuits that I followed, Michael Jordan was the biggest pop culture icon there was. Politicians don't reach the same level of immortality because we raise pop icons on pedestals as children. Adults don't do that. Adults accept mortality.

But when someone like Jackson dies, it takes you back to your youth. The bulk of the shock of Jackson's death comes primarily from Gen X and older, or people who have worshipped Jackson in his prime.

So yes, for me, it would be either Michael Jordan or Isaiah Thomas.

I have no simpathy for him. I grew up liking his music a lot, and then he turned into a wacknut, and his money kept him from getting caught for the crimes he commited. I'm not judging but I have no feelings for his departure. I hope he really did have his karma in check and that he did not do the things he was aleged as doing, but I doubt it. He's a disappointment. 'Nuff said.

well, as I said he genuinely seemed like a child in an adult's body.

when it came to his kiddie scandals, he seemed to genuinely believe his actions were normal for a 40 something year old adult and couldn't understand why people made such a flap over it.

If he was innocent...he needed professional help, because anyone with any common sense would understand why people were concerned about those "sleep overs"

If he was guilty...he should have been found not guilty by reason of insanity and locked up in a psychiatric hospital, because he seemed very honestly to not know right from wrong. This is usually difficult to prove and not a defence that most attourneys usually try to use, but again, refer back to the comments on if he were innocent.

that being said, I still think he was a musical genious. I never really listened to much of his music after I was past 10 years old, but when I did hear something, I couldn't deny that I thought it was good. He had something that todays pop artists simply don't have that made him a musical force to be reconned with.

michael jackson was a very talented showman. possibly the greatest dancer the world has ever seen. he was also a circus freak who looked like an alien from outer space.

when i was a kid, he was in his prime, and like everybody else, i loved the "thriller" video, and i begged my parents to buy me the "bad" album and i listened to it at least a thousand times. as i got older, i guess my taste changed so i became less and less interested in his style of music. then when he started being such a nutjob i lost all respect completely.

i hate that he died but since i cant do a damn thing about it, ill just say that it doesnt really shock me that much. some of his fake plastic body parts prob broke loose and stopped up his heart, or maybe it was some of the goop that they injected him with to keep him from melting or turning to jello or whatever you do when you are made of fake material and look as if you are ready to drop dead any second.

i mean lets face it, its been years since he looked healthy, and during his last few he looked just plain nasty.

its a shame he made himself such a joke because he really did have a great amount of talent, no doubt about it.

Internet jokes are already started. i saw one that said they are gonna melt him down and make him into a plastic toy so little boys can play with HIM for a change. LOL. a little cruel, but funny anyway.
