I've got a 42" widescreen lcd sharp aquos. I dunno brands or anything, but in this day and age everything comes with a warranty - if you're happy with it until thats up then you've got your money's worth. And if not, its under warranty!

I actually use a projector. It's harder to see in the daytime, but then again, I'm never home until after 5ish anyway.

I own a 48" projector TV. A guy at my job wanted to give it away because the convergence went out. It was his excuse to the wife to go out and buy a flat panel TV. Someone beat me to offering to take it. But I waved $40 in the guy's face and the TV was mine. I went to ebay and bought 2 convergence chips for $22 plus shipping. 1 1/2 hours of getting into the TV, desoldering the old IC's, soldering the new IC's in and it was done. So I own a 48" HDTV for the cool sum of $62.

I've got a 50" plasma. Samsung. Love the blacks and contrast compared to LCD, but then if something happens, it's going to be trash as they're really expensive to fix. Unfortunately, warranties aren't all that long, unless you purchase an extended. Didn't know until after I bought this one that the ONLY thing recommended you buy an extended warranty for is a plasma TV. Have my fingers crossed that it will last. Unfortunately, it wasn't cheap.

i did buy the additional warranty so i have a total of three years. the extra protection cost me about 80.00 but i figured it would cost more than that to have it repaired one time so i guess its worth it.

i could have gotten the plasma screen for around the same price, but i have been hearing people say that they are not as durable. i dont know if that is true or not but i didnt want to risk it. im impressed with the picture of the lcd anyway. i dont feel like i am missing out.

I worked some shifts for 3 months upto xmas, some of them I spent 23 hours in a data center and earned enough money to buy a 42" Plasma. Nice for movies and games. oh and music dvd's..
