is there anyone among us who has a full understanding of the 16,872 different configurations and features of todays cell phones? i have had a few, but not recently and i dont know what the hell i am shopping for.

im looking to get a plan with 2 phones for me and my wife.
whats the difference between a 1.3 mp camera and a 2.0 mp? and dont you smartasses dare say 0.7 mp is the difference. LOL, i have figured that much. im asking what is the difference as far as their use?

what does it mean if a phone is bluetooth capable?

how does an mp3 player work?

i know, i know, i am behind the times here but it has been about 5 years since i bought a cell phone.
i need somebody to help me avoid paying for features i dont care about, and make sure i get the ones i want.

It depends on what you feel you need to do outside of making a phone call. I know my 13 year old daughter's cell phone needs are far greater than mine. All my work e-mail comes to my phone and of course I can call home from europe when I'm there. But Bluetooth is a handy option as it allows wireless comunication with other devices such as these Star Trek hands free ear pieces that are great if you are driving and talking. But the best part is the numbers aren't published yet so no sales calls.

2Mp over 1.3 Mp means slightly better detail when you capture photos with your cell-phone.

Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communication protocol that enables different devices such as cell-phones, hands-free earpieces and laptops to communicate with each other.
That's probably the most useful feature. It substitutes the infrared ports.

Mp3 player means there some considerable storage room in your cell-phone. You can upload/download mp3 files to your phone and listen to them, mostly through your phone's earplugs.

MP3 is a useful feature, but a separate mp3 player doesn't take much space and it will certainly save your cell-phone battery for actual calls.
A camera at any of the mentioned resolutions is not much. You can't take any decent photos with them. Now, 5Mp is a whole other story. It's also a whole other price range.

You probably don't need your cellphone to be able to access the internet either... or even the old wap...
But if you're going for a package deal I guess your choice of models is specific.

the LG Voyager from verizon

palm treo

black berry any model

if all you need it for is phone calls by all means just get the free phone they will give ya, i however use the data plan to get football and baseball scores while at work, i text alot so a full keyboard is prefered for me(average around 2500 texts a month), most of thephones above have a sd card slot for more storage storage i use it for mp3's 2 gigs holds around 400 songs depending.

like i said what do you want to do with your phone.
