If there is a beer topic, then ill make a booze topic. Personally, i hate beer with a passion. I'm a rum and vodka person myself.

Bacardi tastes like soap, Smirnoff is cheap-o vodka, SoCo is just plain nasty. Jager and the Captain, I agree with.

My personal favorites are:

Rum - Captain Morgan Private Stock
Whiskey - Gentleman Jack Daniels (Or Single Barrel JD when I can afford it)
Scotch - The Glenlivet 8 year
Vodka - Ciroc
Tequila - Patron Silver / Reposado (I had some Gran Patron Platinum once...200 bucks a bottle is a bit much though)
The other stuff I like - Goldschalger, Peppermint Schapps, Courvoisier, Chambord

well i agree with the smirnoff being cheap, but for a 19 yr. old college kid thats part of the appeal. i despise tequila and dislike scotch. Wild turkey would have been on my list if i would have thought a little more. peppermint schnapps is good, but it gets old real fast. and hennessy is amazing, ive only tried it once but i loved it. ive tired myself of jack daniels and jim beam(shudder), and i have actually quit drinking alltogether for the past few months. dont have the funds for it anymore. oh and disarono!

Di Sarrono is AMAZING. I'm not big on girly drinks, but a friend of mine bought me a chocolate martini as a joke at Carraba's one time. IT WAS AWESOME! They make those with Di Sarrono.

It's a little stouter when you drink it straight, but it tastes like candy and doesn't immediately have an effect.

Has anyone ever had absynthe? I only ever had it once, and it wasn't the real stuff. Wasn't all that great (and the other narcotics in my system pretty much neutralized it lol). I'm getting into the whisky more now (Crown Royal) can't handle vodka anymore cause I used to pretty much live off of it a few years back, and tequila is the only hard liquor I can drink with beer.

I have an absynthe story...but I digress....

Here's why I like beer, and a list of liquors I will never go near again:

vodka: at 9 yo-Hospitalized for alcohol poisoning (and I'm just getting started
slo gin: Horrible time age 13
Tequila: Crawled home hands/knees
Absinthe: Two day hangover from three shots. I know I did it wrong, too bad I'll never try it again shit sucks ass
Saki: Oh I fricken hate saki, several bottles no memory of exactly how sick I was
Gin: Blah...another bad middle school experience
Wellers whisky: bad experience
Scotch of any sort: Bad early highschool drunk
Bicardi: tooo many bicardi and cokes is not good
Seagrams 7: Bad middle school experience (Getting a feel for the kind of childhood I had?)
Philiadelphia whisky: Bad Bad BAD experience (Mixed w/old millwalkee beer ...yuck)
Schnaps of any sort: Bad grade school experience
Triple sec: "it tastes like anything you want it to taste like" bullshit, made me puke
Brandy: Bad shit
vermouth, martinis, LI iced teas, cant go near them....

(Exceptions, the rare bloody mary, or margarita)


What I did survive and will still drink occasionally is Jack & coke. But, hard alcohol just gets me sick everytime. Absinthe was my last "Oooo I've never tried that before" experience...and let me tell you. The wormwood is a toxin, three shots and my lymph nodes blew up like I had full blown cancer or something. Scared the shit out of me. The hangover was two days, and did not let up, it was just as bad at the end of day two as the first waking hours of day one. Hallucinagenic...perhaps, and not in a good way.

One time I drank an entire quart of sambuka in one sitting, just doing shots. I started at about 6-6:30pm. I have no recollection of any time past 8, but next day I had a wicked hangover, a pissed off sister (cause she had to clean the puke that I COATED the bathroom in) and a total aversion to anything with licorice in it. I have a lot more stories just like that, and that's probably not a good thing lol

If you do do it, just make sure you do it right. Have to dilute it with water 2-3x...with a slow dripto get the milky green out of it. Thats the wormwood releasing it's oil (the toxin thats supposed to make it hallucinagenic). Shoot it like I did, and the absinthe will use the water in your body to dilute itself (at least this was my impression). Taste wise, it's black liquorice...so if you like that you will probably love absinthe.

when it comes to booze, i mostly drink burbon, straight with a coke chaser. jim beam is my 1st choice followed by wild turkey.

i like a good bloody mary as well. its my favorite mixed drink and it is great with steak and seafood which is one of my favorite meals.

i dont care much for the sugary sweet stuff.

Scotch-Johnny Walker Green (never tried the blue to expensive at 500 a half gallon)
Congac- Navan made by Grande mariner(sp) Vanilla congac(expensive but worth every penny)
Tequilla-been arrested too many times on it so i don't drink it, make me wanna fight
Rum- Capt Morgan (is there any other)
Vodka- three olives or formula 1
Shnapps-Fire Water, GoldSchlager, Hot Damn, Ice 101

as far as the hang over the dude above had with the absinthe he prolly had an allergic reaction to something in the drink. I have an allergy to red wine, something in it will make me bow to the porcellin good for a couple days.
