I've never recorded myself on guitar, and I'm thinking of doing something to put on G.com.
i was thinking of copying this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGYwwvWiCi8
its Kirk Hammett showing riffs from master of puppets. i can play all the riffs from the vid apart from Damage, Inc.
think its a good idea?

then demonstrate some of the techniques that you have learned from learning other peoples stuff. there are lots of people on the site that are newer than you that could probably benefit from it greatly!

yes. just make sure that YOUR technique is correct first, so you dont lead others astray.

Important note: Exposing what you can do is an imortant step forward. There are many who can play well but are just too shy to let people listen or see becaues they are ..... well scared.

Stepping out is what it's all about.

Do whatever gets you playing better. You expose your playing and some are going to give you tips... some are going to flame you. Sure... you will get pissed and have tears and bad feelings and all that crap. But, most importantly is that you will work harder to produce better stuff.

You have to let people hear you play dude. Don't wait until you think you are good enough. You'll be waiting forever.

I agree with SATAN, especially on the part about doing something original. It's really easy to make your own stuff. I've only been playing a few months, and I do nothing but my own stuff. Some people may think that's going to hinder my progress, but I feel like I'm growing more as a musician by doing all my own stuff. I also record sound of my playing to make sure I don't sound crappy. Go original, for sure. And make sure the technique is on.

That's a great Idea, and great advice from JTC and Satan, but I want to see you play master of puppets. I'm Jealous you're already playing stuff like that. I would like to see vids of all the people who post here including myself.

I want to do vids so bad I can't stand it.
I think vids would be an awsome tie in to the collaboration sessions.
Hear and see how each person did it.
How cool is that!!!
