Well, it looks like this weekend might blow chunks. The anniversary of Katrina is Friday, and Gustav is not far away. So if you don't hear from me, it might be because I am headed North bound, before the "Fit hits the Shan". Hopefully the high pressure system will keep it moving out of range, but this is gearng up to be a very crappy Labor Day weekend. We'll see!

Sorry to hear about Gustav Papa. I hope by some miracle that it does a U-turn and heads back out to sea, (stranger things have happened) I often wonder, If Katrina never happened, would fuel prices still be below $2 per gallon. Probably. I'll be rooting for the high pressure system. Stay safe!

Thanks Fred. Actually after the storm everything went up down here, literally. Everything shot through the roof, including gas, because there was a supply shortage. And it continued on until last year. Then the gas started going up even more! I was not pleased, to say the least. We'll see though. Hopefully the high pressure system will stay on top of it, or it will fizzle out like Fay just did.

here where i live, we dont have much threat from hurricaines. we have had some damaging storms, but nothing compared to what some have had to deal with. i wish the best to all who may be in danger. i can only imagine what it would be like to have your house destroyed, or even worse. i hope everybody is safe.

Wow, stay safe frumsapap. I too am sorry to hear about your flooding Danno. In spite of all that, I STILL want to move to Florida.

BTW, anyone heard that bonehead windsurfer is recovering. He damaged his throat when he hit the sand and sort of blacked out before he hit the wall. He said he'll do it again. Definately a candidate for the Darwin Award.

I grew up dealing with hurricanes. My uncle was killed after hurricane Hazel in 1954. He worked for the same company I currently work for... Sort of... (We were spun off from the old Ma Bell/AT&T.) Electrocuted while working on phone lines. It's not just the storm that can get you, you have to watch the aftermath as well.

Hope you're spared any serious issues.

Worst we have to deal with in Colorado is the ocassional small tornado and most of them don't hit anywhere near the metro area.

If anything does appear to be coming your way, grab your guitar and your wife, (yes, guitar first, you can always get another wife... I've had 4,) and get the hell out!

I know people who would argue equally well that you can always get another guitar but they wouldn't trade their wives. But that's another thread...

Hope everything goes well
