In typical bad taste, I'd have to say they now have more "hot" women than they've probably seen in years.

Not agreeing, just sayin'...

Never been one to wait too long for a comment. Like Woody Allen said, "Comedy = Tragedy + Time" I just usually ignore the time part of the equation.

We live in the age of the internet. Information right there at your fingertips. We are on the cusp of gene therapy. We can travel in supersonic jets and the public will probably go into space on a routine basis in the near future. Doctors can hold a beating human heart in their hands...and we can't keep morons from burning people to death as witches.

Just because one part of the world is in the post-space age, it doesn't mean ALL of the world has exited the middle ages.
These people were wild tribes until a century ago. Washing off centuries-long mentalities and traditions to conform to foreigners' standards does not happen overnight. I don't justify them but I'm not surprised by their acts either.

Yeah, but there's been plenty of time to bring them out of the dark ages. We've had modern communication, and the ability to provide it, for at least 50 years. This one part of the world, other part, is nonsense. The people in Kenya may still have a way to go to catch up with the rest of the world but burning people as witches? This was just sheer stupidity, superstition, and hysteria. If the rest of the world simply accepts this idiocy it will continue. Where the hell is the U.N. is this? Oh, I keep forgetting, they're inept.

It's really not much different in any part of the world. Call it a witch hunt. Or a gay hunt. Or a black hunt. It's just basic discrimination in a disgusting form.

It's just a part of the world where the group mentality takes a stronger hold. I would say there isn't a country in the world where discrimination has been eliminated. We still have morons in the good old USA who take things into their own hands and commit horrible acts. Difference is we have guns and instead of burning the victim, we choose to shoot them. Yeah, they could stone them or beat them with clubs, but a fire provides light as well as fueling the rampage. Something about fire that gets people going. Aside from it being the traditional way of eliminating a witch.

If she weighs as a duck, burn her before she turns you into a newt!

I see your point but at least with shooting the death is often instant. I can't think of too many worse ways to die than being burned to death. Maybe they just enjoy hearing the evil witch, black person, gay person scream. It's just beyond me to understand how a person can stand there and watch/do this and not say to themselves...what if that were me. I guess they dehumanize the victim. They aren't really burning a person, they're burning Satan.

Yeah, it's a horrible way to go, but look at some of our own discrimination murders. Beating a gay man to death. Dragging a black man by a chain behind a truck. And this isn't a group mentality thing, these are individuals or a couple people who just don't deserve to have the human label applied to them.

Point taken! I would say that they deserve the same fate, but then that would turn me into them. I have to say though that I'm in favor of a quick death for such individuals. I think once you've dragged a man until his head comes completely off, you've just fore-fitted the right to live. After beating a man to death for the awful crime of being gay, (sarcasm), I'm really not interested in feeding and housing your sorry ass.

I'm with you there. We coddle our criminals and sick minds allowing them to weaken the gene pool. Castration is the first step in my book. They shouldn't be allowed to breed.

Horrible to say that I just don't believe we treat our criminals poorly enough. There is little deterent to comitting a crime if your punishment is to be housed, clothed, fed and given medical attention while you watch television and rape your cell mate. It's a waste of money and a sorry state we've created, but it all falls in line with the idea that you should treat your fellow man with respect and dignity, even if they're the scum of the earth and would slit your throat given half a chance.

That's a point of view that appeals to me a lot. Getting the scum out of the gene pool and out of the budget too. Christian ethics have this downside... I say let whoever god they believe in forgive them. Society doesn't need to keep them. They're useless anyway. Nature has developed a fine array of reactions to keep the gene pool cleaner and stronger. Banishing criminals from the society is one thing if you don't want to "remove" them entirely. But babysitting them too is a different thing. Unfortunately there is no place you can send them to to survive by their own means among their own kind, away from the rest of the society.
