My wife and I just had our first son Jackson Scott Strickland back in May. It will be a few years before we have another child but we have been talking about names for kids since before we were even married. She said she likes the name Clint. I'm totally on board with that. Now, I am a huge Clint Eastwood fan. I mean big time. I told her that we can call our next son (if we have another) Clint Eastwood Strickland. She says that kids will make fun of him and thats a horrible idea. I think its about as bad ass as you can get. First of all....by the time he would reach high school (maybe even middle school) Eastwood might no longer be with us so no one would know the difference. Second, its a middle name. Who cares?

Now where you guys come in. Ya'll are a bunch of bad asses yourselves. Is Clint Eastwood Strickland totally awsome or not?

It reminds me of Back To The Future 3...where Mary McFly adopts the name Clint Eastwood.

I like it. Of course, I'e never been good a naming kids. My ex and I talked about naming a girl Mackenzie Elise Johnson, and a boy would be Corran William Johnson. No real reason behind the names...we just liked the way they sounded. Except I got the name Corran from a Star Wars character ;)

Good thing she's an ex, though. That girl was crazy...literally bipolar

Seriously though, if you wanted your kid to be a *true* badass...you should name him Charles Norris Strickland.

I always liked naming kids, but I think it's a great responsibility that usually isn't appreciated by those being named. I would never name anyone after a famous person. What is cool or bad ass to to us usually doesn't carry much weight in the next generation. Anything that can be made fun of, will be and usually by the one person that we hate. Plus you wouldn't want to put your expectations on someone who may very well not be the person we expect. We all deserve to make our name in life not carry some old dead actors around. I guess I say no, sorry

As long as it can serve as a middle name, I think he won't have problems with it, he can say just "My name's Clint", and signature's would look cool, but I'm not to talk about this, my kids are like 10 years waiting in the future.

I think you have to put yourself in the kids shoes. Not literally mind you as it would hurt your toes. But kids can be extremely cruel, and names are easy to pick up on. You have to think of the things his contemporaries might say!! Clint can be easily twisted to be rather cruel.

Why did John Wayne change from Marion?? Exactly.

Its a difficult thing, but remember, the kid has to live with your decision, not an easy thing in some cases if it goes wrong.

Whatever happened to real strong, sturdy boys names anyway? Today Tarquin and Cody and bloody stupid names seem to be 'in', and I hate that, what happened to the real manly names?? Jack, Charles ( or Chuck), Brian, Mike, Fred ( where is he?) etc, etc........that's what I would call proper strong names.

Or you could do a Mystery Science Theatre 3000......and bring on Slab Crunchmeat, and Fist Rockloin, Biff Bench-press etc hahahaha

I think this is too personal of a decision for me to give an opinion on...just keep in mind kids will find a way to make fun of almost any name you give your child, and choose a name that sounds good and is not likely to be twisted around in too many different ways.

What about the tried and true names like Dweezil or Moon Unit, Zowie, Prince Michael I, or Prince Marshall the First!

One of the former Ministers in our State Govt was named Richard Face. I think he was convicted of corruption. He should have got up in court and said, "But after 50 years of being called DickFace, surely I'm entitled to some compensation!"

I knew a girl in school called Anita Dick. Hardly anyone mentioned it...ever....much...every day....

My ex's gynecologist was called Dr. Michael Diver. Can you image females turning up at the door and seeing the sign "Gynecology- Dr. M Diver!"

And lastly, a woman guest at a 4-star hotel I once worked in was called Annette Curtains. Needs to pull herself together that woman. She never heard that before (yeah right).

The nice thing about my parents is that they named us kids names that can't be turned into annoying, cutsie nicknames. It is just hard to make fun of our names, which I appreciate.

I think he'll get the shit ripped out of him! funny to see if the cops believe him if they ever have to take down his details, a friend of mine whos middle names are Zebulon Evenstar could've got arrested because they thought he was making it up, luckily he had some hilarious ID on him to prove his hilarious names.
In conclusion, it would be funny and nowhere near as bad as Ezra Zebulon Evenstar so do it

wow. maybe its just me but where I live /grew up if you went around making fun of someones name you were considered a looser and got f*ck beat out of you.

With all the names these days I find it hard to beileve that someone whos middle name is Eastwood is that far fetched. The red Jumpsuit Apparatus's guitar players name is John Wayne (whatever his last name is). I know this cuz he grew up in the same area I did. No one made fun of his name because once again, that was lame and you would get the f*ck beat out of you.

I was given a name with a heavy legacy. As a kid I hated it. As an adult I don't care much anymore. The thing is, in the elementary years, ANY name can and will be twisted to make fun of the person carrying it. It doesn't matter if it is common, rare, famous or made-up. If the kid is not the alpha-male/female of the bunch, it will be made fun of.

Maybe you should temper it a bit. I named my son Jacob (first) Reagan (middle) but you could never be sure that he was named after Rolnald Reagan unless I told you. That way if he grows up to be some sort of liberal statist, he can escape his name.
