i just read a story about how the russians are pissed off about the new indiana jones movie. they claim that americans are trying to fool their kids into thinking that history was different. they say that it portrays things that did not really happen and it should be banned. i dont understand the anger. as far as i know, the movie makes no claim to be a true story. with all that is going on in the world, i would think they would have bigger worries than some movie. are there any people here from russia? surely everybody there doesnt feel this way.

Apparently it's a worldwide epidemic... Everyone has got to have something to complain about. I don't believe any of the movies ever claimed to be historically accurate. It called Fiction!
Maybe the communists are upset because they aren't getting enough news time...

**AHEM** 'SCUSE ME, "especially women"???? I happen to LIKE attention, thankyouverymuch, I can't help it if getting that attention means acting (sorry, BEING) crazy. LOL It comes with the boobs, ask any woman, most will deny it! :P jk

Looking forward to seeing the new Indiana Jones movie btw! When people complain like that, you just ignore them, its just not worth the energy. You don't give them the attention they want, it really pisses them off lol (Works with women too, don't fuel the fire!!! :D )

Russia needs to shut the f'k up. In the 50's (the era that this film takes place in) Russia didnt even exist as it does today.

Soviet Union and Russia are not the same thing. It is the Russians more than anyone that should know this.

I'll have to see Indiana Jones to comment on what the Russians are complaining about. I don't know what aspect of Russian history they are talking about. As far as actual history and movie fiction, I remember seeing the movie "The Ghost in the Darkness" about the lions of Tsavo attacking railway workers in Africa around the turn of the century. The narrator comes on in the beginning and says something like.."remember, everything you see in this story is true. It actually happened just as you see it." Michael Douglass" character, Frederick Remington was never there. He didn't even exist as far as this movie goes. So much for reality. You can't take movies too seriously.

Or this:
Long time ago they dragged a dead pobe, priest or something, in court for something he did while he was alive.

I just got back from seeing the movie. The Russians need to get over it! This film takes place 51 years ago in 1957. It involves Area 51, aliens, and a whole buch of stuff that could never be mistaken for reality. I don't know what their problem is. Here, I'll give them Rooskys something to bitch about------->

That movie kicked so much ass, then idiots come along and piss me off. The film took place in 1957, a time when our entire country was anti-socialist. It's like the germans being pissed off at the last crusade because it was ant-nazi. completely stupid.

We can say whatever we want. It's just a fiction story, so..

It's not Russians, it's the Russian Communist Party. They've been out of power since the 80's and they'll latch onto anything that gives them something to complain about. Personally, if I were them, I would be doing my best to distance myself from the Stalin era, rather than trying to defend it.

It's like I said. The Russian Communist Party is being pushed further and further into obscurity, and the more irrelevant they get, the louder they have to complain about small issues to get attention. Listen to a Hillary Clinton speech; you'll get the idea.

Furthermore, people who were born and raised in the old Soviet Union aren't used to the idea of fiction purely for entertainment. Every movie, book, and TV show (for the few Soviets who could afford TVs) in the old Soviet Union had a government-regulated message, and that message was, "Communism is great, Stalin is God, and everyone who works for him is a hero." Propaganda is the only kind of media they know, so it's not so unnatural for them to see Indiana Jones as propaganda.
