I am a small business plumber and I too desire to grow my company. yes I know Joe is only an employee aspiring to self employment, but his question and Obama's answer are... I think... the defining point in this election as they let us see clearly what Obama's ideology truly is. Marxist. soooo....the question is;

Why is the media destroying the person known as Joe the plumber?

Why if I take all the risks and stresses of business should I be penalized for success.

and finally, why does the "guy behind me" need a government hand up at my expense. I received no help from the feds nor do I want any. I have worked hard, eaten Rolaids and kept on truckin.

what think you all?

How does being in default of your taxes not make you a great guy after all? What if he doesn't have the money? What if it was a choice between feeding himself and/or his kids or paying his taxes? Would he still be bad?

And how does Joe being behind a few bucks change the fact that Obama clearly stated by his answer that he was a socialist?

It doesn't! Joe's yet another victim of the Obama attack machine. Yet look at the people he has to keep denying that he knows. It's amazing the things this man doesn't know about the very people he rubs elbows with, Pflager, Ayres, Wright, and god knows who else. Farrakhan supports him, but it's ok because he denounces it.

From what i understand if we had say a flat tax for it to work we would be at 40% which in order to replace all the revenue. Some articles say less but lets just say that. So my point is if you make 250k per year do you really mind paying more then say the waitress living off her tips that just served you? Do i care if Joe is late or whatever in 2007? No, as long as he recognizes he owes it and pays like everyone else. But he was pretty much asking Obama if his tax plan would effect his 280k year business.Your also only taxed more for what's above 250k so all the margin he is being taxed which is more than fair and i don't beleive this joe the plumber even disputed Obama anyway...it was a mere question. McCaine's add basically is saying about the so called sharing the wealth is basically a cry towards socialism..Well, fine by me if 95% of people really do make less they need help in this economy..Take one for the team Joe.

so sad.... you all miss the point. and clearly none of you have ever made a payroll. Joe's character or lack there of is not the point, how ever he is still being besmirched. OK, fine sucks to be him but do you really believe that benevolence is the business of government? do you really want to take from me to give to others? tell your "waitress" to get off her ass and take some risk if she aspires to something more than what she has. If I hear the word "fair" again I'll scream.

Leif you think higher taxes on others is fair? Why? look at Obama's charitable contributions.....they are laughable. but if he and other people too stingy to help others can get Leif to believe that the Gov should give charitably instead, then you can all feel better about yourselves and not spend a dime.

If Joe makes over 250k and wants to keep it all for himself then fine, but leave the miserable bastard alone . it's not your money and you nor Obama have no right to take extra to be Fair or for any other reason.

Get your hands out of my pockets, go coach a little league team and or give 10% of your own gross to people who need it that you feel connected to. BUT QUIT ASKING THE GOVERNMENT TO BE YOUR ROBIN HOOD!

I am not convinced that 250K would actually be the amount nor am I convinced that tax would not be on gross receipts. For all you naive ones the pols and government tend to say one thing and do another.

so which team should Joe take one for? Chavez, Castro or in remembrance of Carl Marx?

When you tax the rich, the poor are the ones who suffer.
The goal shouldn't be to move the taxes more to those who can afford it.
The goal should be to reduce government spending so that taxes are low for everyone.
I'm not suggesting that every person pay an equal dollar amount, but at the same time, you can't put almost the entire tax burden on a small fraction of the population.

When you make the rich become poor, the poor become destitute.

i hardly think it would make them become poor. think of all the ceo's bringing home millions per year. they go on 6 week vacations, drive a new bmw, with 2 more at home in the garage, wear 3000.00 suits and drink 10.00 cups of coffee. you cant believe that a little more income tax would put them in poverty.

as far as joe the plumber is concerned, i cant speak for this one guy in particular, but i know alot of "joe the plumber's" and they make less than 250k per year. most of them alot less. the fact that the candidates tried (and failed, for the most part) to use "joe the plumber" as such an example is just more proof to me that BOTH candidates along with the majority of our leaders, are truly out of touch with reality when it comes to money. they deal with such huge amounts that they cant even comprehend what it is like to operate with the budget of a normal person living a normal life, much less those who are struggling.

Amen, brother. I am so tired of hearing how bad the higher ups are going to have it. They make more money than God, get the tax breaks, and donate a measley 1/4 % to charity, and call it a night. Forget about it. We need to stop spending our funds as well.

Except McCain was in the military. I promise he didn't make much. I know he was an officer but I guarantee it was less than 100k / yr. Of course his dad had no end of money so that may have warped him a bit.

I don't know much about Obama's past jobs.

if I had between 5 and 7 trucks on the road I would easily make 250k. I have 21/2 trucks now do the math. I grew up on welfare and I served in the 82ABN making 1K a month. being poor sucks. But quit whining about what other people have, its none of your business and you don't know from whence they came to fortune.

Obama's a community organizer he don't need no job.
