this changes everything. i mean, who would have thought african american would become the president? 50 years ago they weren't even allowed to be in the same bus as white men/women...man, this country is evolving toward the better way.

congratulation president obama!

If nothing else, his win truly does symbolize how far this country has come as far as racial equality. Could anyone in 1988 honestly say they could see a black president carrying Virginia in 2008.

Well. I just talked to folks over in Brooklyn and they are shooting fireworks and dancing in the street like we just figured out how to kill those aliens in Independence Day. My honest thoughts are:

1) In January, I never thought a black person could be elected president. At the very least, Americans have impressed me with their open-mindedness.

2) I voted for Obama twice, but I would have been just as happy with Hillary.

3) Whomever had won today would change nothing in MY life over the next four years. If Herbie Hancock were elected president, then I'd start shooting fireworks...

one thing i can say, obama sure speaksw well and has a ton of charisma. he speaks of a better country and world, and i hope he sticks to his guns (haha, or Anti-Guns) and does the country and perhaps the world some good.

It is time for another great-American breakthrough -- and we all need to participate if we're going to succeed. It is easy to point blame at the past --- and easier-still to spread fear and paranoia.

It is harder to actively-participate in the process.

One of the things that makes President Obama so alluring to voters -- is that he has created new energy for people to get involved in the political process for their first-time. Hopefully, he can motivate Americans to make the sacrifices ... and get back in the game.

(BTW, .... I'm in for the Herbie Hancock ticket in 2016)

The biggest impact this has to me is that I'll get more good commercials telling me what to buy and not who to vote for! I think I will buy some Old Spice now, Bruce Campbell!!!

After all the promises this clown has made, by the end of his term, this better be the shiny-est, sparkly-est country the world has ever seen.

Yeah well.. good luck with that.. People can't give up what they don't have and people that have it aren't going to give it up without a fight.

Now that it is all over, I never really cared for either of them. Both are Lairs and spin doctors. In all honesty though I hope something good comes out of it other than "black man is president".. I'm SICK to death already of hearing about how 40 years ago blacks couldn't sit in the same sections, etc.. I got it.. Dark times in American History but lets leave it in the 40 year past and move on..

Well, it is what it is. The whole world is in ecstasy. He also has a filibuster proof majority in congress, so he can basically enact what he chooses to. I expect he won't make good on his stated support for offshore drilling. If he does, I will be pleasantly surprised. I'm waiting to learn what he will do regarding cap and trade on the coal industry. If he makes good on that, I expect electricity prices will go up. And since all businesses use electricity, they will pass their increased costs on to the consumer. So, our utility prices will increase, and consumer prices will also go up.

But let the world have their period of euphoria. I'm still suspicious. Hopefully, Obama will prove me wrong.
