The best part was I was expecting a bunch of random blathering to come out of her mouth, but the "energy crisis" thing actually makes sense...

paris is not a stupid person...contrary to her actions and what most ppl think. she and her press agent(s) are very calculative. and her mother is furious with the whole mcain ad bit. this is retaliation....pure and simple. and that it was done with the humor that it was is a pretty shrewd move as well. why the Mcain camp decided to do this ad is a complete mystery in the first place. why would you attack a family of billionaires with unlimited resources to attack you back should they wish to.....and obviously they do.. mother hilton is really pissed off about this and i doubt she is going to let this just slide by......shame on the Mcain camp for wasting thier contributors money on such a frivilous and ridiculous ad. surely Obama has other political issues they could attack him on. the whole thing just doesn't make any sense.....but i guess that today's political environment for ya....

There's a history with the old g.com that I'm not sure I ever want to know about, like the whole Tony Danza thing.

I've seen no evidence that Paris is not a ditz. Can assigning a level of savvy and intelligence to her be wishful thinking? On the other hand, I've seen plenty of evidence that Paris Hilton IS a ditz! And I'm not referring to her reality show.

The McCain ad was smart politics and did resound with the undecided voters. This is evidenced by the shift in approval. The ad associated Obama with a celebrity status as Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears. When most people consider the celebrity of these two women, they don't have positive impressions. Associating Obama with them, especially on the heels of Obama's speech in Berlin was a smart political move. Obama showed an amazing level of hubris during that speech. He did not help himself here in the US with that speech. And I've been reading that privately, the Obama camp had concerns how that turned out.

Obama's response, in the form of various surrogates, was typical. They started trying to make the case that McCain was being racist because Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears are white. This may resound well with his supporters, but the battleground is the undecideds. I don't think the constant "any criticism of Obama is a racist attack" is resounding with the undecideds. That's one of the reasons why Obama have been slowly and steadily slipping in the polls. For the first time, I seen a Rasmussen poll with McCain ahead.

And Paris Hilton's response? I refer to Shane's pic.

If Paris' name were to appear on the ballot, I wonder how many votes she would get.

well i'm an undecided and i found the Mcain ad to be pretty freaking retarted. and paris may be a 'ditz' but her family isn't. you don't get to be a billionaire without a little smarts behind it. and Mcain comparing obama to a dirty slutty person is pretty much politics at it's very lowest point. the talking heads are trying to write it all off as just an ad done out of humor as a joke. but why would anyone want to see their contribution $$$ be wasted on humorous jokes. to me it makes the Mcain camp look pretty juvenile. it really comes off as kind of desperate to me. surely obama has some other talking points that can be attacked in a more mature manner. surely he has some other attributes that can be exploited other then having celebrity status. i mean c'mon. that's all they could could come up with? how bout the $1000 reabte that obama is promising. that's a pretty silly stance. why not attack that and point out the flaws of that plan. at least that sounds like SOME kind of a political plan. but ads comparing him to pop stars. now that just comes off as pretty sad to me.......

I see your point. Each voter will see the ads and draw their own conclusions,. But regarding Paris Hilton, she's a trust-fund baby, similar to Dodi Fayed. Actually, her grand-father built the Hilton Hotels, and being a publc company, not even her father is steering the company. It has a board of directors and a CEO. The CEO is steering the corporation, with the approval of the board.

In my research, there's no Hilton name listed in the executive management, nor the board of directors, so it seems Paris's daddy is also a trust-fund baby. The only skills you need as a trust-fund baby is to be able to think of new and interesting ways to spend large sums of money.

Well, I don't think Paris is a ditz. She's been able to turn partying into a career, so she must have something in the way of an IQ. I also think she wanted people to think she was a ditz. It's just part of her persona. I also think she's spoiled rotten, and if she ever had to deal with commoners, she'd be screwed!

I've known people that have met her and they said she was actually pretty cool and down-to-earth in person. A very "girl-next-door" kind of attitude. The fact that she's not afraid to poke a little fun at herself now and then proves that.

Of course, she is filthy rich, meaning even *if* any of us stood a chance, we could never live up to her shopping expectations :-P

washington is full of rich, clueless bastards who were born with the silver spoon in thier mouth. sounds to me like paris would fit right in.

ride around in a limo, spend money without even knowing where half of it goes, acting like you are better than everyone else, having no clue how the other half lives, taking 6 week vacations, hmmmmmmmmm, seems they really have quite a bit in common.

LOL
