the f*ucking poison ivy eats me up every single time that i use my weedeater to cut weeds at my house. i did so yesterday, and i will be doing it again today after work. despite wearing long sleeves and taking a cool shower immediately afterward, im likely to be looking at several days of misery pretty soon. the suffering usually sets in about 3 days after i am exposed to the stuff.

i have tried every cream and ointment, along with several home remedies, with varying degrees of success. anybody have any suggestions on stuff that has helped you in the past?

yeah, yeah i know, some people are not affected by poison ivy..........lucky s.o.b.'s

If there's no grass, trees, shrubs you care about, then use roundup and call it done!

This drummer I jammed with in high school was insanely allergic to poison Ivy. Hell, if he thought about the plant he would break out in the nastiest rash. Anyway, he swore by oatmeal to at least calm the chaos on his skin. Might try a natural lotion or ointment with oatmeal. There are some calming compounds in oatmeal that work great for skin irritants.

Try 'Ivy Dry." It's a clear liquid that you dab on. It gives a slight burning sensation which helps with the itching. It also drys the affected area.

I was working for a guy back in 84'. He had a fence about 70 yards long with brush and vines all the way down the whole fence. I had never had poison Ivy at that point, so I had no clue what I was in for. I took the offer and he, (the bastard!), went to work. I managed to take out about 50 yards of that crap before I started itching. The weedeater I was using threw the ivy everwhere, in my hair, on my face, arms, torso, legs, and it was about 95 degrees that day. It felt like I had ants crawling all over me, so what do I do? I go home, not knowing any better, hop into a warm shower and buy the time I got out I felt like I was going to die from the itching. I has legions that looked like water running down my body. I was in hell for two weeks. He still wanted me to take out the other 20 yards once I got back on my feet, or he wasn't going to pay me the $80 he owed me, (the deal was for $100 for the whole fence, but he told me if I did 50 yards he'd pay $80) A few of us went over to explain my side of things. He paid me the $80 and we called it even.

I'm one of the few lucky ones that is immune (i've one several bets by streaking through the stuff), but my dad (and the rest of my family) swears by clorox. You just rub a bit on it, and it will dry up and maybe scab. I guess the itching goes away pretty quick, but you still will have the marks.

Maybe you should try getting a bee keeper's outfit!
I've only had poison ivy one time (thank God!!).
My best advise is: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PEE!!!!! I had it there too :(

im all too familiar with poison ivy. you dont know shit until you have had it in the persanol area. unfortunately i have.
oooohhhhhh !!! for the love of god, i hope it never happens again.

i have tried the clorox method and had good results a couple times, but other times it didnt help at all. i guess its just one of those things.

for anybody who is not affected by this stuff, be thankful. be thankful every fucking day, because it is pure misery.
