Don't you guys hate all the little kids who run around and act like they're awesome because they can play Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and then get mad when you call B.S.? Yeah, they're fun games, but they're not real!

I don't care.. If it gets someone into music then good for them.

Most "kids" and come to think of it guitar players act like "they're all that" when 95% of them aren't.

I play the game "Black" on my XBOX. I love blasting things and in that game, everything you hit flies apart. It's a great stress reliever.

If you're actually good at the guitar, playing guitar hero is much, much easier. I don't own any of them, but I can destroy everybody I've met who does.

You know what? Let them have thier fun. I hate narks who say, "Yeah, it's Guitar Hero, go play a real guitar." Why? Let them have thier fun. I enjoy a hearty session of Tekken 5 as much as the next guy, no one goes, "Yeah, it's Tekken 5, go beat the sh*t out of somebody in the street for real."

What I hate more are real posers, like Fall Out Boy or any band more recent than 2005.

I think Zak is saying he hates the kids that say "Yeah i beat guitar hero on expert and i got a perfect on every song, so obviously i can whoop all your arses at real guitar after playing it for 2 days." Guitar hero is very fun, but unless you know a song that requires you to use the first 5 frets on the E string only, you gain nothing from it that equates to real guitar. Almost all of the guitar hero kids i know that decided to play a real guitar started off worse than the non-guitar hero kids. They came in over-confident, expecting to be amazing, and then got discouraged in a few days. Even worse is when you have a bunch of rich kids who have rock band, then buy shiny new instruments and then start a band before even knowing how to play the guitar. Although, Rock Band's drums are very realistic, except in real life you need to memorize things, not watch a screen.

I personally don't like Guitar Hero and no it has nothing to do with getting booed off the stage, twice. But my 13 year plays it because a friend of hers has it and she loves the game, even though she has no real interest in playing real guitar. What I have noticed is that Guitar Hero has opened her up to some older music, asking me who does this song or that song and she has been downloading some of that music on her ipod. So I do see some good coming from her interest in the game but when they play at my house I am getting real tired of some of those songs, I was never that hot on Slow Ride anyways.

I am not really sure how many kids are picking up instruments after playing guitar hero and expecting to be great right off the bat. It would be interesting to see how much guitar and drum sales pick up from this since it could be a good booster for getting kids to return to MAKING music.

Now, the kids who kick my butt at Guitar Hero are welcome to step up to the guitar and try to beat me but they kick me around on their game/their terms... now they get 2 days to learn a few scales, notes on the fret and chords and I want to see them move around the guitar.

I like the game but I have played it maybe 3 times. I like the feel of a non-plastic guitar in my hands.

I snagged my pic off of some other site, but it is a modified failure screen from Guitar Hero... I like it because I do suck at the game/compared to my 12 year old cousin who sits in the house all summer playing his x-box and I am OK with it.

Guitar Hero is a game. It's meant to provide a level of fun and instant gratifaction. Playing a real guitar requires dedication and discipline. I bet the majority of Guitar Hero experts, if they picked up a real guitar, wouldn't stick with it.

Well, it has been said by many, that playing rock band drums on expert, is like playing drums in a garage band. Personally I say there is nothing wrong with the games, there fun, and from what I've seen, kids actually turn to the real counterpart. I own GH 2 and 3 and I love them, but then again, I'm just learning Guitar, but if they made Piano hero, I would be awesome at it!

Haha my friend actually just made a joke about that. We were talking about all the stuff they were adding on to guitar hero every time it came out, like the bass and drums and stuff, and he said they were going to come out with a Keyboard Hero soon.

How would they manage to turn that into a piece of plastic crap though? Have like six keys?

My 10 year old loves the game (plays it at a friend's house). He can hardly play a chord, but he rocks on Guitar Hero. I just wish it came with some better tunes that you didn't have to buy. Also the graphics look hack (God how I hate the lead singer and that robot jaw of his) in my opinion, but as one guy said...if a kid is into music I can't be bad.
