So the paparazzi showed where they're not welcome. Isn't that everywhere they show up? Anyway, they were tring to get pics of Matthew McConaughey surfing in Malibu. The other surfers took matters into their own hands. As best I can tell, the paparazzi threw the first blow. Good for the surfers!

Now that's a switch. The paparazzi calling the the surfers "animals, you f*@king animals!" Look who's talking. That just made my day.

I think that they are officially the dreggs of our society. Greedy, money grubbing, just downright nasty mother f#@kers. They need to find soething better to do with their time.

They are leeches... they don't even pay royalties for the photos they make money from. Photography is a job. Intruding on people's lives is not a job. It pays, but it is not a job. Just like dealing drugs pays well but is not a job either. Such people should be prosecuted.

Such people should get their asses kicked as in the case of these clowns. They were clearly asking for it. You don't walk up to a group of angry men and decare that you have the right to invade their privacy simply because your on public property. Also, shame on the people who buy those rags!

Privacy in the US centers around your home. The further you get from your home, the less privacy you have. That's just when dealing with the government. You actually have less privacy when you are dealing with other private citizens. There are laws against recording conversations, burglary, and tresspassing but once you are on the street, you are fair game for anyone. Under current law, as long as the photogs are not blocking traffic, or starting a riot, anything like that, they can do what they want as long as it is legal.
I am not advocating it, I am just saying that it is perfectly legal.

Guys like McConaughey should expect cameras to follow him everywhere. I get a kick out these stars who are always bitching about papparazzi shooting them, but if they weren't famous nobody would want their picture. You want to really see them bitch, let them walk around town and have nobody care or try to take their picture. They'd lose their mind.

Everybody complains about the papparazzi, but if people didn't buy the rags they sell to there would be no money in it. They provide a service that there is a market for. They certainly don't need beat up on a public beach for trying to provide that service. If your career puts you out in the public eye, or makes you a star you have to expect people to want to see photos of you. It comes with the gig.

As far as paying royalties to the subjects of their photos, a photographer owns the photos they take. Not the subject. And any photo can be used for informative purposes, as long as it's not used for commercial advertising, without paying the subject or even getting their permission.

Besides, I like photographers much more than I like surfers.

I totally agree,

bunch of surfer tools, trying to bully the paps off the beach.the way they were approaching the paps, i'd like to see assault charges against them. Doesn't matter who they are.

Maybe that is the problem. Maybe a lot of stars are just pissed because they aren't getting a piece of the action.

As best I can tell by observations in the supermarket checkout line, only middle age women wearing a mumu buy those rags.

Yep, they seem to be the only people who care. I can't recall a time when a guy who was obviously a construction worker waiting in line at a supermarket, picked up a copy of "People" to find out the latest scoop on TomKat. Most celebrities will admit that the paparazzi works for them and against them, but in the long run, the celebs need them. There are however times when it's just too much. You can't even eat a meal in public without these bloodsuckers recording every second of it. I mean, did we really need to see crotch shots of Diana when she was working out?
