I was reading one of Zombre's posts and he said something to effect of he likes to rent Zombie movies. So I though "who doesn't?" but there are alot of really really crappy zombie movies these days. There are also alot of really really good ones.
Every time I'm browsing through Netflix or another movie rental outlet I see tons of zombie movies that i have never heard of.

Lets get the word out which ones are sucky and which ones are awsome.

I watched "Dance of the Dead" recently expecting it to suck but it was really funny! Its cheesey and campy but not in a cheesey and campy way. They knew they were making a fun movie. The movie doesn't feel cheap. Special effects, makeup and gory zombie messes were done very well. I recomend it.

If you use Icomp you've probably seen the Forum plugs for the Ruby Tuesday show. Last week she had a zombie/pirate/ninja movie - you don't see enough of those these days.

I LOVE zombie movies. Day of the Dead, Dawn of the dead, Land of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead are all good, at least entertaining. Dawn of the dead in particular I found well done, and I noticed too many similarities between that one and the game Left 4 Dead to ignore - I know where they got their ideas.

28 Days/Weeks Later is a good series.

I thought the Quentin Tarantino Grindhouse movie was pretty cool. It was *super* cheesy, but that's what he was aiming for: cheap, saw-it-at-the-drive-in zombie shtick.

I especially liked the part where whenever the military showed up, there were always two guys rapelling down on ropes. Even if it was the middle of a field where there was obviously nothing to rappel from.

I really liked American Zombie. It's like an indie documentary (fictional of course) about zombie's and the prejudices they have to overcome. Funny and disturbing.

I probably hadn't realized there were so many zombie movies out there... The again, I'm not one to keep track of movies in general, unless they turn out be blockbusters or something worth mentioning on the news...

I have a huge collection of crap 'B' movies, I say have, but most of the people that borrow them tend to forget how returning shit works.....as well as a big collection of more modern and better funded films. :-)

I would check out some of the older black & white ones too for shits and giggles.

Also try out some of Asia's latest and greatest, there's loads there to make any horror/zombie fan reach for the shotgun.

I dig a Zombie movie on occasion but I love Monster Movies (Especially Space Aliens).

I also am a Netflix user. So when you guys are pimping the Zombie movies don't forget to mention a few good Monster movies too. I watched Alien Apocalypse two days ago and it was ok for a low budget B movie. Cool surprise was that one of the actors from the TV show Burn Notice is the lead character.

I find lately that I'm watching older movies. Not super old ones [well, in some cases yes] but stuff from the late 70's to mid 90's seems to ber the best period for my taste. Back in those days, they didn't have fancy CGI graphics to hide the fact that the storyline was garbage. Alot of movies these days are remakes cause people can't even think of an original script. I just finished watching The Gods Must Be Crazy - that was hilarious, original, and didn't need any "special" effects to help the storyline. The only effect is an explosion that I could draw better in MS paint.

I like a good zombie flick on a rainy night with some popcorn. I also like a movie called "30 Days of Night" which is a vampire flick, but the theme is still the same, humans being hunted down by monsters.

from IMDB Timmy Robinson's best friend in the whole wide world is a six-foot tall rotting zombie named Fido. But when FIDO eats the next-door neighbor, Mom and Dad hit the roof, and Timmy has to go to the ends of the earth to keep Fido a part of the family. A boy-and-his-dog movie for grown ups, "FIDO" will rip your heart out."

the 2 worst ones I've ever seen though, have got to be Redneck Zombies (the name says it all right there) and Video Dead (the zombies come out of a grave yard in a television set)

Does the Will Smith movie "I Am Legend" count as a Zombie movie? I'm not sure what count's as a Zombie. Maybe these things were mutants or something but it was a pretty good flick.

It's a derivative but I think it does. It has all of the elements. I just got back from seeing "Gamer" which wasn't bad, but I saw this trailer before the movie started. Looks wild, though it's not a Zombie flick. It does have elements of horror. It doesn't come out till January, but I can't wait to see it...

there's a couple of movies that were kinda cool low budget monster movies... the Pumpkinhead series.

Right up there with Monster In The Closet and the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness series.

While I'm on the subject of Bruce Campbell, how about Bubba Ho Tep. XD

Yeah, I played it with my bro. The community zombie map pack offers some good maps if you get tired of the two official maps. In one of the addon maps I stood alone for like 40 waves... Then not even the ray gun could stop the zombies O_o In some others you can go on virtually forever because they've made spots where you can barricade yourself and slay away to your heart's desire. It's good too because after level 20 the zombies become faster than you and with more health than a shotgun can handle. You just pray you have both big-ass machineguns or at least a machinegun and a raygun and you gotta time your reloads with your partner so that someone is still keeping the zombie spam in check.

Unfortunately now my bro has lost interest :(( I'd LOVE to slay some zombies right about NOW >:D.

I think Rob Zombie should do more zombie films, I loved his remake of Night Of The Living Dead. His House Of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects rock also; and his remakes of the Halloween movies are quite well done too.

I just wish he'd do more movies that are new stories and not so many remakes of existing movies. 1000 Corpses was derivative of Texas Chainsaw Massacre...Devil's Rejects was the closest he's done to a new story. It didn't remind me of anything I'd seen before, but then, I never saw any of TCM's sequels either. The others were just remakes of existing films.

Watched Shawn of the Dead last night. It was (as stated above) pretty good. I actually liked Fido much better but this was fun to watch.

I also watched Yngwie Malmsteen: Live!
http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Yngwie_Malmsteen_Live/60002565?trkid=226870

The second half of this DVD totally rocks. The first half was ok but the video effects were putting me off a little. I don't know how they could do slow motion video clips of Yngwie playing guitar. Geese!!! But wow man... The second half of this show would have had me on my feet for sure if I had been at the concert. I am also pretty impressed with the singer who I think has an awesome voice.
