Anyone here live around/in or spent some time in Vancouver, BC? I will be honeymooning there in early June and looking for suggestions on things to check out. So far our agenda includes

1. Vancouver Island (some biking and sightseeing)
2. Eating our weight in sushi
3. Doing a brewery tour
4. Hitting some Korean restaurants (my future wife is Korean)

I will also be looking for a peameal bacon sandwich. Not sure if you have them out there or if peameal bacon is exclusively a Southeast Ontario thing. Growing up in Michigan, I spent a lot of time in Southeast Ontario and now that I live in Chicago I miss peameal bacon *badly*. My last trip to Toronto I couldn't wait to get to the St. Lawrence market and have some fresh off the grill.

eds is a BCer. He should be able to provide you with people to do and things to see. Wait.... Reverse that.

Dude, make sure you make the time for the hotel room. I thought that my wife wanted to sight see, when all she wanted was not to leave the room, when we were on our honeymoon. Just a little food for thought. Us dudes tend to be thinking about a million things at once.

Oh, we will be enjoying the marriage on our honeymoon, if you know what I mean; nudge, nudge. wink, wink. say no more!

For that added romance (and a decent breakfast) we are staying at a B&B. When I go to Canada I always stay at a B&B.

You know, Xark, as many times as I hear that joke, it never gets old.

Well... It's a slow day here and I'm not thinking all that clearly.

Congrats, man, on the impending bondage. I've done it four times. (Marriage, that is. Though I do have 4 kids, so it's difficult to prove any more.)

BC! What a great place. I just moved from Vancouver to Nanaimo [which is on the vancouver island if you aren't aware]. So things to do in Vancouver:

Check out the 5-story Tom Lee Music on Granville Street.
While you are on Granville Street, go check out the skytrain station, and remember Friday the Thirteenth part VIII - Jason takes manhattan. That wasn't manhattan!!!
Check out the 44000 square foot L&M on Main Street
While you're on Main Street go to Science World
Eat at the Harbourside Revolving Restauraunt. My favourite has a big name I can't remember, but its ham and cheese stuffed in chicken wrapped in bacon smothered in bbq sauce. Worth every penny.
Go to Stanley Park.
Go into every porn store on granville street [caution this will take ALL DAY] Dont forget if you buy honeymoon accessories, just leave the box out in the open when the maids come to clean your room.

On the Island [I'm gonna base it closer to nanaimo cause I'm biased].
Visit me!
Go to the Coombs Old Country Market [the weirdest market in the world, they have everything... and goats live on the roof]
Go to the Horne Lake Caves [free cave exploration... awesome fun, in fact we are down with going whenever we can so if you want some company]
Biking, everywhere - there is so many places to bike around here, my favourite being the seawall, the E&N trail, and up to The Abyss
Hiking
Go to the Wildplay parks [http://www.wildplayparks.com/] i really like the treego stuff.
Catch a train to Victoria, which is also nice - however it's wayyyyy too touristy for me.
Jam with me, or go to any of our numerous blues, jazz, or rock jams, there's open mics and a blues society.

That's all I can think of for now. If you end up looking at nanaimo as a place to visit I'll gladly look into some B&B's for you.

hey evol666, first of all congratulations!
im from vancouver and i know a little bit. I'm not sure what kind of stuf youre looking to do, but i'll throw some stuff at you

Bubble Tea.
I'm not sure if either you or your fiance knows of this, but bubble tea is an asian drink. definitely worth trying.
the old spaghetti factory is a real popular restaurant as well. its located in the old part of vancouver, which provides some interesting sights.

for shopping you could check out robson, or granvile streets, which can be entertainment in themselves.

the yale - awesome blues bar. probably not as romantic though :D
vancouver is also a great place for jazz music and there may be some festivals in june, not too sure.

hope some of that helps.

Are the majority of you peoples from Canada, on this site. This is way off the subject, but I went to Niagra Falls and I thought, "Why are there so many wax museums, creepy." But then I met these two chicks, and they were French-Canadian. My friend and I hung out with them unstil dawn, just walking around and talking. I learned a lot about the culture. I think that Canada is a pretty cool place. Just thought I would throw that out there. Although, I still don't understand all the wax museums. They were cool, but StRaNgE....

yeah, we like our wax. The museum in victoria has a wicked torture chamber with guts spillin out every where, certain members of the royal family have perky nipples, and the seven dwarves are creepy enough to come back in your dreams.

I am not weirded out by them too much, it's just interesting. It is definitely art. I would like to have a wax sculpture of Hendrix on stage at Woodstock with the flaming guitar,or Yoda, or the Enterprise, that would be phenomenal. Yeah I'm a Star Trek nerd.

Thank you for the congratulations notes, guys.

I'll be sure to print and bring your suggestions. Our B&B is near Granville street so we should be right in the heart of that shopping district.

I may shoot some of you a message via guitar.com about meeting up for a beer (or two). Jamming would be ace, but I don't think my future wife would dig on taking time on our vacation for that. She is also understandably hesitant about meeting people from the internet. I vouched for my guitar.com brothers and sisters. We will see.
