I see where Dolly Pardon plans on suing Howard Stern. He's basically altered her words from different sound bites and did what he usually does, which is to make fun of people in the most infantile manner possible. I'm not outraged in any way, but I do think he deserves the lawsuit he's about to get and I hope she wins. I think the problem I have with Stern is that his humor is that of an elementary school kid. I don't take him very seriously, I just find him to be annoying. So I'm not a real listener. I did however listen to this audio clip that was played on his show through youtube out of curiosity. I have to say it's pretty infantile stuff. I've posted it so you can judge for yourselves. I'm pretty sure most of you are ok with this, and I'm sure he has a few fans here, but I can't take that for granted so I have to warn you that some folks here may be offended. It's basically bathroom humor. I can't believe people pay to listen to this idiot.

I agree! I don't think Stern should be censored, but I have to wonder about the people who find this type of thing funny. To me it reflects badly on his listeners. This guy routinely sinks to the level of a moron yet people really love his shtick. I hope Pardon kicks "Fartman" back into the fifth grade where he belongs. What an asshole!

well in defense of howard, he DID move to a network that you HAVE to pay for to even hear him. so his assault on the general masses is over and has been replaced with masses of people that actually WANT to hear his programming. and dollypardon is a public figure that is open to any and all attacks. the price of fame if you will. it's what allowed larry flynt to attack jerry falwell and what allowed ozzy to attack jimmy swaggert(miracle man) and get away with it. and it IS the definition of freedom of speech. that being said....i think stern has run it's course for some time now. the same old tired gags year after year have reduced the initial shock value down to nothing. and while he still has his entertaining moments, i personally would not buy XM radio just to hear it. and seeing how those sattelite stations are losing money by the truckload, i doubt he'll have a forum for much longer anyways....

All true. I'm not arguing his right to be an overpaid jerkoff. I'm just saying that he is one. I also wouldn't put Dolly Pardon in the same camp with Falwell and Swaggert.

That type of Radio can be funny and it can be so over the top that it looses it's humor. I would not pay to hear it. I would say Dolly might have a legitimate defamation lawsuit. His only defense would be it is such an obvious cut and paste that no one could believe Dolly really said those things.

I don't listen to Howard Stern, nor Dolly Parton. I heard a lawyer's shootout on this subject. They said though it was in poor taste, Dolly Parton is a publci figure and it was clearly a gag. They said Dolly has no case. I've heard of this concept before, different rules for public figures, so it didn't suprise me that the lawyers said that.

The lawyers are probably right, but I do hope she wins anyway. I honestly can't tell you anything about Dolly Pardon's music either. The only thing I can tell you about Stern is that I don't like him. I don't think he has any talent and I think he has to resort to the lowest form of exploitation because he lacks talent. I also think that even public figures have rights, though the judge may not see it that way. Legal issues aside, I think his act makes those people who think he's funny look stupid. I guess the reason I posted this was to try to figure out why intelligent people listen to this clown.

it's odd that howard would pick on dolly. she really hasn't been in the public eye for many many years now. those who don't remember should know that dolly was as much an icon in the 70's for her music and she was for her breast size. from national publications to the johhny carson show, she would be teased for her unusual size. it actually went so far as to become a national carcature associated with her. and she often joined in the joke as well. at that time whe was as big a public figure as you could find....literally(heh).......but that was in the 70's so it seems like odd timing to go after her now. but i guess howard figures bad publicity is as effective as good publicity. it just seems kind of odd to me....

Good point. It does seem odd. With so many wonderful targets out there, why her? It's not like she's Brittney Spears, or some world political figure. Publicly speaking, who really cares about Dolly Pardon?

I agree. I just find Stern to be a childish, no talent, idiot! If a person wants to listen to that junk, it's fine by me. I don't want to censor him. As for Dolly, I don't know anything about her except that she has a place in Branson. I've never been to Dollywood, but I'd like to someday.

Try Parton... She may try to sue YOU for getting it wrong.

Stern is a dick. Parton isn't really much better as she let everything go to her head. She puts out the appearance of being everybodys "buddy" but when it comes to business she's more of a dick than Stern! Good for her career, but she's not what she appears.

In the end the lawyers will win, regardless of who wins out on the suit. When are people going to realize that the biggest benefit of this type of action always goes to the lawyers, while the courts are tied up with stupid shit, we're letting criminals, who really deserve a thrashing, get off with hand slaps.
