Yeah, I try not to get too burned out on playing.

I think it has to do with your brain sub-consciously processing the things you practiced. I have experienced that if I play for 3 or 4 months as much as possible, and then go 2 weeks without playing, I can usually come back and tear up songs that were difficult before. Then it's on to new levels!

Pretty much the same here, to a point. It only works with new stuff! If I'm in the gigging mood, then I'm going to practice more. If not, just to keep the skills I already have, I need to practice at LEAST 1 hour each day, or the rust creeps in. Doesn't take all that long for things to start going south if you stop playing. I may get a better handle on the new stuff I'm learning, but all my other skills suffer if I quit practicing.

Yeah, I do it all the time. Sometimes you get burned out and just need a break.

Happens to me all the time. Sometimes, when I am learning a new song and I may be having some difficulty with a certain part, I'll take a break and go over it in my head and kind of sort things out. When I come back to play it, there are no problems.
