I am! This season, the singers are allowed to use instruments for the first time. And with the writers strike going on, ratings are expected to soar.

I will be watching. I always thought they should do more than just sing (nothing against singers) but where is the opportunity for the artist who's shining light is in their guitar playing? Plus I got a crush on Paula Abdule. Is she still on the show?

Not me. Couldn't stand the concept when they first started it, and still completely disagree with how the show is run and how voting takes place.

Considering the fate of almost all of the "runners up" it seems they tend to destroy more lives than they help.

Aside from that, Cowell's an ass, Abdul is an inconsistant bitch and the other guy is just a tag along who doesn't seem to have much of a mind of his own.

Unfortunately, the writers strike will probably help the show, but it should have been taken off the air after the first season. If for no other reason than it had already been done and wasn't all that great the first time.

(Can you tell I don't watch television much?)

LOL... Hey, I understand. Different strokes. Not trying to disuade anyone, but it's just not my cup of tea. Or bar of dark chocolate. (I don't like tea!)

I agree with Xark I don't really like the way the music business is allowed to do this kind of thing. it's a popular show though and some of the nutters in the early stages are hilarious.

I've never really watched Idol. I thought about trying out for it in high school, back when I was going through my r&b phase and sang like Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera combined. Call me Mizz Mariah Aguilera. Anyway, I just never really enjoyed it, so I don't really watch it. I may catch a few minutes here or there, if they're allowing instruments now.

I really like Mariah Carey's talent. I just wish she'd put some clothes on. It cheapens her, she doesn't need that gimmic, she's got talent. Right now, Tarja Turunen is my favorite singer.

I will probobly check it out - I heard they are going to be more Rock oriented this year. If it stinks I can always flip to see what else is on.

Same here hippie... Last night I watched Super Bowl XXXII. Sure I saw it when it happened, but it was better than anything else on the... Crap! It isn't a "tube" anymore! What is the world coming to when you start losing your old terms? Guess "Idiot Box" still applies though.

Lately I spend more time on Youtube then I do watching TV. Great concert footage, interviews, obscure music videos. Some nights my wife has to drag me away.
