Hey everyone,

I have posted a new blog with video from the documentary film B4MD: Before The Music Dies. The segment in the blog is how a popstar is created with links to order the DVD, or to download thefilm to your computer or iPod starting at $2.99. It's very educational. I hope you enjoy the segment and hope you get a chance to see this remarkable film.

Thanks Helen,

I think any musician or just a fan of music, should really see this movie. I know a lot of people already know that in general, the music business is crap today. I knew it, but never to this extent. Especially when you have not only famous, but well respected artists in the business telling you so during the interview segments in the film. For those who have not seen it, there are links in the blog to the B4MD website, and to the MySpace page as well. The DVD if I remember correctly, came to about $20.00. But there are downloads availabe for your computer or iPod for a lot less if you want to go that route. It's definitely an eye opener or a rude awakening depending on how into the music business you are I guess.

It's definitely pieced together very well. I hope you and anyone else who checks it out, enjoys the educational part of it even though it may upset some. But don't let the title scare you, the music industry is not going anywhere, it is certainly not dying and that will be explained in the film as well.

Check this out: http://archive.salon.com/tech/feature/2000/06/14/love/print.html

Courtney Love does the math

The controversial singer takes on record label profits, Napster and "sucka VCs."

I'm halfway through it, it's disturbing.

Jason! WoW!!!! I haven't gotten through the whole thing yet either, but I can guarantee you that is definitely one article I am going to finish! It makes me wonder if the film makers who did "Before the music dies" ever thought of intervieing Courtney Love, OR, could there be another documentary film about the music industry?

If you are willing and get the time, I would send that article directly to them through their website. I think they should see this as well. Thank you for posting this very intense article! Kudos again for you as well!

I have a whole new respect for her now. I used to think she was just some crazy half/cocked chick all the time but this article is well worded and insightful.

They're freakin crooks and it makes me angry. Music is IMO the greatest thing in the world. A universal language. An aphrodisiac. A memory marker. A party starter. A mood setter. To know that fat guys in suits are stealing money out of the pockets of musicians on such a level kills me.

Very much agree here. And also, I used to think Courtney was just another dumb blonde. A whole new respect for her now. That girl has got a pair made of solid gold! LOL. She may be crazy in a sense, but she certainly isn't stupid.

I had to do an interview and immediately got back to the article when I was finished. Two words Jason: Holy Sh%t! Fantastic! I am really glad artists are starting to voice themselves about these topics. You will surely see that in B4MD with the likes of Dave Matthews, Bonnie Raitt, and Erci Clapton. All speaking aloud about the music industry and corporate B.S.

Thank you again very much for sharing this article! The two definitely go together!

Kudos on a great find!
