Hi,
Lately I been getting a certain amount of electrical noise (mostly pops) from something plugged into the electrical circuit my mixer is also plugged into in my house. It's not very bad, but it is kind of a pain to have to redo a take when it happens. It seems to only be happening to my mixer, not any of my other gear even though they are all plugged into standard surge suppressors.

I have two basic questions that I need help with:
1) Could this be a problem with my mixer (Behringer UB1832FX-Pro)?
2) Is there any kind power cleaning units that I can use that are not overly expensive?

Thanks for any help you might have.
Later,
Fred

If this is occurring due to electrical circuits, try your unit on a different circuit. I usually use my unit on a circuit separate from all other equipment, especially if the other equipment is very "heavy" (power demanding. Also, do not use surge suppressors for heavy equipment like a mixer or recorder. Use a battery backup (called an Uninterruptable Power Supply) because they do the same thing, but prevent damage to whatever is plugged into it. They also regulate voltage to prevent voltage spikes and/or drops. Here is a good one on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16842107113.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the ideas. It was definitely something on the circuit I was using. I wired the outlets I'm using for my gear to a new breaker in the fusebox (don't try this at home) and all noise is completely gone. I also like your idea about an uninterpretable power supply and am looking into an appropriate unit. I'll keep you posted on that.

Later,
Fred
