Digidesign Eleven rack version; looks pretty rad, complete stand-alone functionality, built in reamping capability, REAL KNOBS. Some line levels in, a mic jack, and comes with Protools LE with all the new fun stuff [the digidesign collection of plugins, some 3rd party stuff, a bunch of great V-instruments, and the collection of AiR plugins which sound really good. Take a peak. It's great looking as well, in person it looks more bronze than orange.

$900 for this is a decent deal I believe.

I have the software version and it sounds pretty good; not as good as my real amps but they cost alot more and need space and volume to sound their best.

So I have been able to test this thing out on several occasions. I have the software version which eats up like 40% of my computers' processing power, so I barely ever use it. I usually only use simulators when I'm writing because it's fast and easy, and when I do any real recording I use my amps.

But anyway, I played on a session not too long ago, and for the most part it feels like a real amp with real knobs and I was pretty happy with the tone, though I did miss muckin about with microphones [my not-so-secret passion]. I had zero trouble finding a usable tone, and was pretty quick to get the hang of it. I wasn't running the recording and I'm pretty sure it was actually running the output into a 003r instead of this being the interface. I would suggest trying before you buy, I'm into amp tones with few effects so I didn't really mess with them, instead adding some plug in reverbs of my own and a little bit of delay. But for the 3 short sessions I did with it it was a lot of fun and easy to use, plus [even though it's not all that important] it looks great and upon browsing the manual I would think it would be a pretty awesome multi-tool if you housed it in a small rack case with a power amp: it offers full midi control and could [and is designed to] be used live. Just throw that rack up on your desk and plug in the usb, bam recording time.

I think you could get better tone by running it through a low-powered tube power amp [anyone still have a Marshall el84 20/20???] and driving a good speaker and micing it up. But actually that's pretty much my answer for everything :D

Thanks, eds. This has moved up on my list of things to check out. If I get it, I can still mic my amps or reamp through my other amps, or reamp through the interface.... so yeah, looks like maybe this is worth a shot. Got a mic input and a couple of analog line ins along with digital ins/outs.

Tossing around either this or an Echo Audiofire or a Liquid Saffire 56. Have a Liquid Mix16 (along with some other gear) that is looking for an audio interface so I can get back to playing/recording....

How do you like the liquidmix? I LOVE mine. I want to get the expansion card for 64 tracks of eq/comp.

So far, so good, thanks. I really like it a lot... still looking to upgrade my interface though.
