sorry the embedding and stuff was kind of weird so i'll just write the rest here

Let me know what you think of this tune, it's got no lyrics and im still working out a solo to put in it. If you click the underlined "new song i've recorded" you can download it i think - anyone here is welcome to add some vocals for the time being or a solo after the bridge, though it'll get replaced eventually if you have an idea for it i'd love to hear it. i'd like any feedback you could give me i know there is a small issue or two with the recording that i am aware of and will fix when i have the vocals and a solo, its just to small to bother with it in its current state. what i am curious on what you guys think is mainly with the chorus part, i couldn't think of something for it and i kind of took a part of another song i was working on and changed its key and put it in there, and im not really sure that it fits, though the problem is i have heard it so many times now that it seems fine. looking forward to any feedback i can get - or some extra parts if you guys care to collaborate with me

I like it...I wish the second guitar was "bigger" sounding compared to the tremolo part. I also think you could stand turning down the tremolo part a few db to bring out the rest of the mix.

For vocals, I think it would be cool to have that megaphone-style degraded effect with a bit of the swirly tremolo stuff going on.

Overall, I really like it! It's got a nice edge to it. I was thinking it would be cool to have a slide solo in there, a really heavy one.

Turn down the gain!!!!

just my opinion, it's a just a little too shrilly... if you turn the gain down to get your palm mutes to sound more staccato it would really beef up the bottom end of the track. And maybe add a few more mids into the rhythm guitar just to make it not sound quite so scooped. The fade at the end should also be longer, I'd say about 8 seconds just for a nice smooth fade, it seems to drop out pretty quick.

Those are all just some technical details, I think the tube itself could be pretty rocking. The "chorus" if that's what people are calling it is great if you come up with something with lots of syllables for the lyrics to kind of trade off on what is keeping it "busy". It's a rocking tune and if you keep the momentum going I think that'd be wicked!

You don't mind if I download it and use it to practice soling on do you?

Great song! But, I have to agree with eds, you need to turn down the gain a bit. Also, do you have a band?

eds go ahead, solo on it all you want, you should record and upload it too! Shane I agree, I want to make the second guitar part bigger, I only have 8 tracks on my recorder so I was only able to use 2 for the second guitar, would like to use like four or so - does anybody know of a way to make it bigger sounding without just copying the same track and playing it at the same time? Fred I was planning on a wah solo in there, I never really considered a slide but I'll mess around and see if I like that better - just bought a talk box to so that might be worth trying as well. Eds yeah I know about the fade out and such, thats one of those small issues I was talking about - there is also a nasty bass cut-off going into the bridge that I need to take care of. As for turn down the gain, ugh, I'll try it - I was hoping only minor things would need to be changed not everything ;) but if you guys think it needs it hey I'll go ahead and do it.Tyler no I don't have a band, I haven't been in one for four years. The whole song was overdubbed by me, and the drums are some loops that I found on the internet, they seem to sound far superior to the rhythm machine in my DRS. Thanks for all the feedback guys, exactly what I wanted - if you guys have any other suggestions or technical advice for the song I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks again - any advice possibly on what scales to use to solo for this i've been having a hard time finding one that sounds real good

ill +webcred anyone who cares to post in here

If you need bigger, there's always re-recording the same guitar part using different gear and then layering the different textures. There's also the tried-and-true method of putting a delay on the guitar track with a mix of 50%, then adding a little bit of delay [like 10-18 ms should do to thicken the part] It shouldn't sound like 2 guitars, just one fat huge one. If you are low on tracks, try some bouncing down some stereo stems - Rhythms on one set, drums and bass on another, and then that leaves you four more tracks to work with. If you have virtual tracks, just use those for subsequent takes instead of deleting your first one and decide which you like best for yourself... it's your song after all.

One thing I like to do [not sure if you can do it on your system] is use the virtual tracks like a madman and then when the different sections of the song change I can edit together different guitar textures. I just as often do this by switching the balance of the microphones I've been using which is generally a combination of 2 or three if I'm in a good room.

Sounds nice! You could compensate for that gain by getting rid of some of your highs...I run into that problem myself.

That's a catchy tune you made there.

What I really want to know is how you got the Soundclick player to embed and work. I remember trying a while ago and got all kinds of messed-up results.

Yeah I'll try and explain in the best I can, I had a lot of trouble myself I'll see if I can work it out again:

I go to my Band Administration Main Menu, and under "your URL" there is a link that says Linking tool: use the linking/embed tool - click that

choose embed song and it should walk you through the rest - I was going for what g barber had there, but i think i need more than one song to get that embed. Also, when I posted it in here, I am pretty sure I embeded the link in my main text rather than the embed option it has a box for - hope this helps
