Hey any of you logic users i buymped into a newly opened apple store and stumbled on the upgrade to logic 8. HUGE, HUGE, HUGE improveent over 7 which in my eyes was already down right amazing. It's only a 200. upgrade even if your going from 5.0 (which kind of pisses me off because i upgraded frm 7) but it has an explosion pack of some killer tools i haven't even tapped into yet. It also comes bundled with a program called main stage that is basically a giant digital effects rack plus midi synths and the works for playing live through the computer as a mix to your pa...I am always been frightened of this but the tools and interface seem extremely stable so if you have a powerful enough laptop you hould be fine..It has soooo many sweet built in improved libraries of sound and mixing and mastering software...Apple has taken this program to a new level...there is no way any protools program or hardware accessories that can touch this in my opinion and is worth the price to upgrade!!!!!!!sweeet!

macs save you money......all the problems you have with pcs and there conflicting driver's and hours of aggravation do not come close and a mac mini is 500 new...so yeah there is an upfront cost but in the long road your gonna save time and money with a mac and people are realizing it every year which is why apple is a good and much better stock option then microsoft..one you go mac, you never go back...

I use Digital Performer...never got into logic's gui, but I guess what you start with...you know?

What I DID get was Final Cut Studio, and I imagine a lot of the tools in soundtrack pro are integrated into Logic 8. Logic is a great program, the release I have coming out in October was done with a band that used logic and the mixes are top notch! Enjoy, and if you don't have it already, I hear the new reason is off the hook!

I wouldn't turn it down if somebody gave it to me. Work gets me lots of toys, so in that context I would. There is no doubt that the core of apples audio engine is extremely powerful, and I could not imagine doing a/v in a pc only environment these days.

i use final cut extensively and it has the same interface...apple's stuff is all starting to merge together..i like that and yeah the core is darwin unix so it's stable as a rock and hard to create a virus for.
