I have an overabundance of lyrics, poems etc. that I would like to post for anyone interested. I have been writing quite a bit for 17-18 years, and I would love to share if anyone is interested, or if you want me to write on a certain topic. I am more than willing. If someone has a song Now as I have stated before, at the moment I can not liten to anyone's music at the moment. I am trying to remedy this situation, but until then All I can do is words...

This I wrote right here and now. So have at it.

If I forget to mention,
My intention of not wanting
To fight your battles for you,

And if I seem pretentious,
a little over zealous,
then I say to you.

I have been up in arms
for far to long
with this gun in my hand,
killing by the sound of your gong,

It's time to usurp you
And to bring my men home,
cause we're tired oh so tired...

The P.O.W.s are praying for death,
so that they can have some reprieve,
and I am awaiting the day,
When I can take my leave

I have been up in arms
for far to long
with this gun in my hand,
killing by the sound of your gong,

I have been up in arms
for far to long
with this gun in my hand,
killing by the sound of your gong,

Man... Don't expose all of your lyrics at once. Bleed this stuff out so that we can put riff's to it.

If you have 18 years of material like this piled up you are probably sitting on a gold mine of songs.

Thanks. I am just trying to get it out there. That was just on the fly. I try and make it spontaneous as possible. I am not saying I wouldn't like to make money doing this kind of thing. I just want people to know that I am open to opinions, and constructive criticism. It's just something I have done for the majority of my life. I have had inspiration from Milton, Wordsworth, Morrison (Jim), anyhing with some kind of negative connotation for authority, etc... At any rate, just trying to throw out some lyrics, to see if anyone thought it was decent or not.

OMG that's actually really good for something you JUST wrote. I am jealous and envious of your superior songwriting skills. I can't write lyrics worth crap, but oddly, music is so simple. Like math, but with notes and more random.

Thanks for the complement. I don't agree, that lyrics are any harder. It is the same principle. If you read poetry a lot and immerse yourself in it,it becomes apart of you. Try John Milton, or William Wordsworth, or Samuel Taylor Cooleridge. And then go down and watch people perform poetry or comedians do their act. I believe anyone can write. I believe that writing what you feel is the most important. Read "The Artist Way". It will actually change the way you do things as a musician or writer or performer in all the right ways.

I will have to print this out and take it home JTC. I would like to hear it in my head on the guitar first, but if it's what I am thinking, this could be the start of something. Thank you all for responding. No, I have not played in a band in quite some time. All the musicians I keep playing for are just not quite what I am looking for.

Believe it or not I have never listened to Iron Maiden. So, I don't know what he sounds like. I have no clue how this is going to come out, but I would like for someone Johnny Cash, Baritone, maybe low tenor. I just went to your cd's web page. I can't listen at the moment, but you definitely have my curiosity peaked. I read your exerpt on how you learned, it was cool. Reminded me of my growing into the guitar. I have been playing about 13 years now.

I tried to get my 9 yr. old into music, but all she likes is techno, and hip hop, which is fine. But I am not able to sit down with her and teach her an instrument. Maybe, when she gets into middleschool, they will have orchestra band, and she can try it that way. She is into Shodokan Karate. That is what she loves.

Speaking of orchestra... I recently went with my son to see the Shreveport (La) Orchestra perform at the local university. My son was in some type of music memory competition where they had to name the piece of music the orchestra played after only about a 2 second demo of the song. Amazingly, my son recognized about 7 of the 13 pieces that they performed. I was pretty impressed by the orchestra which played a small concert after the competition was concluded. It's amazing how much sound is produced by those instruments. I'm particularly amazed at the dicipline and skill demonstrated by the musicians. I have to admit that I was reluctant to attend this thing but I'm glad I went.
