ACTION = Height of the strings from the guitar body/fretboard.

Imagine a cheap electric guitar.
Why do you say "The action sucks!" if the action can be adjusted to a lower position in all guitars? (except acoustic and classic)

Two things..

First: With most people, when speaking about a guitars "action" it is generally more than the height of the strings. It also encompass the neck radius (7.25. vs 10 for example) Fret sizes, the level of the frets, etc. Most guitar guys will not pickup a guitar and say something to the effect of "action is fine but the frets sux and the radius is awful). They lump everything into "action sux".

Second: Guitarist are a VERY picky crowd. Everything is very personal to them. If the guitar is not set-up exactly to their preferences then they will 9 times out of 10 say "action sux". blah blah .

Also, it is my opinion that something can indeed suck, then be corrected and not suck anymore. For instance, you can suck at playing "Stairway" but if you watch Wayne's World enough and practice you could actually start "not" sucking at Stairway.

personally i find all factory set ups to make the "action suck" so i always tweak it to my liking, although sometimes there is no amount of tweaking that will take away the "suck" factor, its not always the frets sometimes its just the way the guitar was built and put together. ya know sloppy nut placement frets not dressed right, bridge outa whack intonation out.

I've POS guitars that were awesome players, and i've upper level guitars i absolutly hated, its all about personal preference

it is harder to make action not suck if yo have a compund radius fretboard, if yo have a straight radius, and everything is in order, you can generally make action suck not so much.

I'm not sure if my guitar has a trussrod, because the arm doesn't have an iron bar on its back.
It's a Marshall Rocket Special. Nice p-ups. Bad tuners.

Looking at the Marshall site and at the Rockit guitars there, it does look like the Marshall guitars do have a truss rod, check out the headstock there will either be a cover just above the nut or a slot in the same place, the truss rod is there.
