can you just put masking tape over the pickups and stuff and take off the neck and strings? or do u have to sand the finish and take out all the electronics? wut do u paint it with can u just use spray paint?(im 11 i dont have much money)

If you want to have a good finish, it's best to strip the guitar clean of all parts and yes, you can get a nice finish with spray cans. You can spray over the original paint, but make sure you rough sand the body to give your coats something to adhere to. For about $20.00, you can get a book or an e-book from http://www.paintyourownguitar.com You will get a world of info and can obtain a factory finish if all the steps are followed. Good luck!
