Yeah, it's me again; oh, no. 'Nuther question for those who have experience: I was just curious what the effect of porting a 4x12 guitar cabinet is. Would it eliminate "woomf"? JFYI, the cab is a Behringer BG412V.

Maybe yes and maybe no... Not all speakers perform better in a ported box some work better in sealed enclosures. Take a Marshall 1960A and you won't see any ports on it. We have an old Dean Markley 4x12 and it's not ported either. I would tend to trust the design engineer here. You can go ahead a port your cab if you like, but realize that you may also ruin it by doing so.

I dunno how much I would trust the behringer design team. I have never seen a ported 4x12. I have however seen many a ported subwoofer or bass cab. Are you playing tuned down or with excessively heavy bass? Both my cabs [marshall 1960a and 1936] aren't ported but have no woofyness at all.

Sounds to me like you need to either turn the bass knob down a bit to tighten things up, or get some speakers that aren't so floppy in the low end.

I'll try cutting the bass. The Behringer has been nothing but good to me and my sound, though. I'd love to hear what the Neodymium Celeston speakers do (apart from making the cab easier on my joints and back).
