I want to get a better sound, a better intonation, especially with chords, I want everything to sound prefectly in tune. What do you recommend? buzz feiten, true temperament, or is there anything else i don't know??

I have buzz feiton on one of my strats. Here is the deal with that. Buzz feiton will improve your intonation straight up the neck and the chords really ring out with perfect harmony. On the same token you loose some ground on the typical A tonal kind of stuff if your into that..Also, Buzz Feiton will give just about any Luthier approved as "authorized" agent. I would check the credentials of who you send it to first because if you want it done you want it done right.

Does it change your sound? Well chord wise the chords tend to RING like a choir of angels (or demons if you prefer) ...I never heard of true temperment until you just now when I googled it..Looks interesting but I can't help you there.

buzz feiton is nice and you could become an addict. You sacrifice some standard alternative stuff for some real perfect tone..which it sounds like what your looking for..Straight up the neck!!!!!

I would disagree that you lose any tone at all. I am authorized to fit guitars (acoustic and electric) with buzz feiten, and they use bone nuts and saddles, which have very good resonance, and the only other difference your guitar will see is being setup properly, so you will probably gain tone if you get buzz feiten. I did it on my acoustic and was amazed. Oh and btw, it costs about 150 to get an electric guitar done and 300+ for an acoustic.

Thanks! can you explain a bit more in detail what the cons are? i didn't really get it (sorry!), what do you mean by 'lose some ground on the typical A tonal...' and 'you sacrifice some standard alternative stuff...'
thanks again!!!

if your really willing to pay like 1000 to let a company put a new fretboard on then go for it...steve vai loves it...he says its better for tunings such as open-e or open-a...he claims that the intonation stays the same when you tune to non-standard tunings and he says it also increases the sustain...although it is very expensive
also, i dont have any experience with the buzz feiten..and leif...how have you not heard of tru temperment???there has been 3 posts on g.com recently about it!!

I haven't heard of true temperment either, but any thing that involves replacing an existing fretboard would be an immediate no go for me... as the sharks would say, I'm out.

I love the Buzz Feiton guitars I've played. Lee Ritenours washburn (L5 lie model) was one of the cleanest archtops I ever played, and would love to get one someday. The goal to keep in mind is to get perfect intonation throughout the fret board range, and buzz accomplishes that at a very attainable price.

I am going to have to do the Buzz Feiton with my acoustics. Sounds great.
