Rhythm tone...post 'yer samples!
I was noodling around a bit today and trying to nail down a decent rhythm tone on my POD. This is what I came up with. Ibanez RG2EX1 stock into POD 2.0 on Modern High Gain model, Line6 4x12 speaker: http://www.netmusicians.org/files/88-TR0102_1.mp3 Yes, I know there's a metronome that got mixed in accidentally. So sue me. Also, since we're...

Guitar Technique DVD?
Hello, I was wondering if there is a DVD for guitar that is as thorough and in-depth as the Jojo Mayer Secret Weapons for the Modern Drummer DVD is for drums. I have purchased a ton of material (DVDs/books), but so far haven't come across any DVD that talks about the most efficient way to play. The closest would be Principles of Correct Pract...

Evil Sounds
So, I'm a huge metal guy. Lately I have been way in to Black Metal typed stuff, but not so much overboard as any of those swedish bands that wear makeup and talk about being celtic and stuff, I'm more along the lines of The Black Dahlia Murder, and things like that. Anywho, I'm wondering what I can do to make some of the stuff I play sound a...

In my style i use 60% alternate to 40% legato technique (also some hibrids). What's your choice preference between this two techniques?

(The very twangy Wah) And Hendrix, Have you ever been (To electric ladyland) The very distinct tone he uses here. Can't really describe it. I can play white room b...

Wrong String
I recently learned a scale, and I keep picking the wrong string. I know it takes practice, but I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do to help speed up the process. I look at the frets because I don't really have a good sense of where I am on them all the time. Should I just practice picking the three strings over and over while looking aw...

Al Dimeola Article in Guitar Player Mag
I strongly suggest this article to the youngsters here at G.COM. In simply-stated fashion, Mr. Dimeola answers questions about incorporating all of his experience and knowledge of musical theory -- into soloing. It is only a couple of pages in length -- so it may be easy to read -- even for teenagers. This monster-player practices for TEN hours...

Year and a half later, where to next?
Hey everyone, I've been playing guitar since november of 06. I'm about 80% self-taught, the other 20% probably accounts for the very low level guitar class and my friends. I've been teaching myself primarily with the internet, and I have made a lot of progress. I am primarily a lead guitarist but I do rhythm too, and I often work on getting be...

New Pickups...
Sooo I have this old Squier that needs new pickups. It's the guitar that I learned pretty much everything that I know on, and I have sentimental attachment to it. It actually doesn't play all that bad, it looks like I found it in a dumpster, which I don't mind, and sounds terrible. SO, I have decided that I want to put some new pickups in. I th...
